A call for help
Even if you don't go looking for trouble, trouble will come to you on its own.
Henry, who was squatting down tidying up the flowerbeds, got his face covered in dirt from a dog digging at the ground.
Audrey Hepburn laughed mischievously to the side, making no attempt to stop her dog's antics.
Henry was pondering how to describe the delicious taste of dog meat hot pot in French. He'd convince the two elders to have a nourishing meal tonight. Whatever Chinese medicinal herbs they were missing, he'd fly off and buy them!
Just as he was about to unleash a Heat Vision on the dog's rear end, the maid who was cleaning inside called out in French, "Henry, you have a phone call."
"A phone call? Who could it be?" Henry asked. Because it was rare for anyone to call Mrs. Hepburn's house specifically looking for him; usually it was Robert, or the lady herself.
The maid said, "I don't know who it is. He kept speaking English, and I couldn't understand him. I only heard 'Henry, Henry.' You speak English, why don't you listen?"
People who speak English as an international language can come to Europe and are likely to encounter many setbacks. But now is not the time to complain. Henry quickly stood up, dusted himself off, and said, "Coming right away."
Perhaps they wanted to contact me, their assistant, to arrange the lady's schedule. This happened often when I was in New York; people who wanted to invite Audrey Hepburn would usually confirm the lady's schedule with me before making the invitation.
So Henry nodded to the lady who was still tending the flowerbeds, then trotted into the house, went to the phone, and answered it. He said in English, "This is Henry. Where are you looking?"
A female voice came through the phone, saying, "This is Raven. Yes, Mystique from the X-Men."
"Click!" Henry hung up the phone as quickly as possible without damaging it.
Audrey Hepburn, who entered a little later, was taking off her gardening gloves and asked, "Henry, who is it?"
"Wrong number."
Henry had barely answered when the phone rang again. Mrs. Hepburn gave him a reproachful look, clearly indicating that this was no simple "wrong number." Henry had no choice but to answer the phone again.
Before the microphone even reached his ear, he heard the person on the other end yell, "You damn alien, if you dare hang up on me again, I'll—"
"Click!" Henry hung up the phone with the same lightning speed.
Although it was unclear whether Ms. Hepburn had heard him clearly, Henry simply made a face and said, "The person on the other end is a bit hot-tempered. Let's wait until he calms down before we talk."
"Well, I think if you keep hanging up on people like that, the person on the other end won't be able to calm down," Ms. Hepburn said fairly.
However, he was certain the call was unrelated to official business. Otherwise, the assistant wouldn't have acted that way.
Then the phone rang again.
Henry stared at the ringing phone with utter disgust, contemplating whether to smash it with his fist. Audrey
Hepburn, however, had an expression of watching a good show, glancing at the phone and then winking at Henry.
Left with no other option, Henry, who had just answered the phone, preemptively said, "Speak calmly, or I'll hang up again."
"I'm very calm right now, fucking calm, so I'm not thinking about flying to Switzerland right now to kill you."
"Calm down, ma'am. I thought we'd settled our little misunderstanding. The best thing to do was to cut off all contact. But now you've called my boss's home, which puts me in a very difficult position."
Audrey Hepburn's mouth formed a circle as she stood to the side, feigning sudden realization. She probably didn't think this was some kind of romantic entanglement.
Okay, I admit that what I said was somewhat misleading. But it's better than bringing Mutants trouble into the lady's life.
"Misunderstanding! If the misunderstanding you're talking about is the one where you wiped out the X- X-Men, do you think there'll ever be a day when things are even?" the voice on the phone yelled.
"Hey, hey, hey, speak properly. I didn't wipe out anyone, no one died, I'm very gentle."
"So gentle." Audrey Hepburn didn't make a sound, she just mouthed it. Then she walked past Henry with a maternal smile and a playful look in her eyes, and went into the kitchen.
Henry, feeling utterly defeated by the Oscars actress's glances and expressions, believed he had fallen into a social Abyss.
Suddenly I'm thinking, maybe I should just go and wipe out the entire X- X-Men.
Let the world explode!
The voice on the phone said with dissatisfaction, "If you want to even things out, come over and help me now. I'll decide whether to let you off the hook based on your performance."
"Hey, ma'am, are you kidding me? We're not that close, and I don't owe you that much. There's no Reason for me to be available whenever you call. Oh, wait, no, there's no Reason for me to come just because you call."
"Am I trying to Reason with you? Do I need to Reason with you? Are you crazy? Why would you think I'm being Reason?"
What should I do if I suddenly realize that what the other person said makes a lot of Reason?
Henry felt inexplicably uneasy. Especially when he saw Audrey Hepburn peeking out from the kitchen, her attempts to cover up her presence only made Henry think that he should just kill a few X-Men.
Mystique on the phone continued, "Anyway, you were right before, we really are in trouble here. So I need your help."
Henry looked helpless and said, "I'm used to talking nonsense. Where did I say I wasn't wrong? Oh, no, sis, you guys have a problem, you should solve it yourselves."
"The X-Men are pretty impressive, having just resolved Sun Pharma flare in outer space. Speaking of which, who wrote that PR copy? It must have cost a fortune to silence so many astrophysicists."
Mystique said, "The problem is with the X- X-Men. There are some people I don't trust, so I need support from forces outside the X- X-Men. Besides, many of what you said before was correct. You also need to explain to me what you know."
"I·-."
Henry, who was about to continue making excuses, was interrupted. Mystique said, "You owe me, at least I didn't send the X-Men to settle the score with you. What If...? you don't come, you should know the consequences."
Threatened, Henry gave up on Reason with the woman. He said helplessly, "You have to let me know where to find you. Or are you really going to come to Switzerland to pick me up?"
We're on the plane, heading towards---
"Click!" After hanging up the phone for the third time, Henry breathed a sigh of relief and felt a little calmer.
"Are you going out?" asked Mrs. Hepburn as she came out of the kitchen.
"In short, some troublesome person caused trouble and now they need me to help them resolve it. This is really troublesome," Henry said reluctantly.
Should I save you dinner?
"I think I'll pass. I'll take care of it outside. I don't know how late they'll be up."
Should I call you a car?
"No need, there's no time to catch a bus. I'll figure something out myself."
one,
Audrey Hepburn concluded by saying, "Child, be careful in everything."
