Fierce Battle on the Train
Although the sound of machine gun fire from the escorting helicopters outside the carriages was incessant, what made them even more nervous and frightened was the sudden silence that followed the fierce fighting in the rear carriages.
Did they win or lose?
A sudden, heavy blow left a fist-shaped mark on the carriage aisle door. Then came a second, and a third!
Well, it seems the soldiers guarding the rear compartment have lost. Otherwise, they wouldn't have needed to pound on the door to open it. Besides, a normal human fist wouldn't be able to leave a bulge in the steel door.
This is Mutants prison break, right? The sergeant in charge still sticks to this idea and has no intention of releasing the dangerous X-Men and Brotherhood of Mutants in the same carriage.
All the soldiers silently engaged the safety on their rifles and placed their fingers on the trigger.
When the steel passageway door was finally smashed and the entire door panel collapsed, a group of ordinary people in civilian clothes appeared. They were neither the soldiers guarding the back of the train nor Mutants with distinctive features.
Without a word, the soldiers immediately opened fire! They used live ammunition, without even using warning or Mutants- specific stun grenades.
A barrage of bullets from a regular rifle struck the enemy, knocking away the aliens' mimicry skin and revealing their original appearance. However, the bullets lacked even the most basic knockback function, let alone the ability to wound or kill them.
Moreover, this minor injury will regenerate and heal quickly, just like it was never injured at all.
Only the large-caliber machine guns at the rear can be effective; the powerful kinetic energy of each machine gun bullet can penetrate the enemy's defenses.
It removes large chunks of body tissue.
If you hit enough targets and penetrate the alien's skin and armor, even if its appearance eventually returns to normal, you can still take an alien's life.
But the Diberians were no sitting ducks. Unsurprisingly, the United States soldiers were sent flying like rags by these incredibly strong and almost invulnerable invaders.
This was because the train carriages were narrow, and the first wave of invading aliens, limited to close combat, couldn't utilize their numerical advantage. There were also machine guns providing support from the rear; otherwise, it wouldn't have been impossible for the U.S. military to collapse at the first contact.
But the machine gun, which had been so powerful, didn't last long. One of the fallen soldiers was tossed around by the aliens like a sandbag, crashing into the machine gunner's position and destroying the only effective weapon.
Seeing the urgency of the situation, Cyclops and other Mutants eager for battle all shouted:
Let us go! Otherwise it will be too late.
The soldiers could also roughly discern the current situation. First of all, the Mutants were imprisoned and the invaders were probably not from the same group. Otherwise, they wouldn't have such an indifferent, or even alarmed, attitude towards each other.
If they were truly in cahoots, the Mutants should seek help from the invaders if they wanted to be released, instead of continuing to beg these soldiers.
The invaders' fighting style doesn't deliberately avoid the restrained and immobilized Mutants, nor does it resemble searching for control devices.
Their gaze remained fixed on the carriages further ahead, where Jean Grey, one of the X-Men, was held in solitary confinement.
So the soldiers who were guarding the rear and had not yet engaged in battle made a decisive move, running back to one end of the carriage to the switch that controlled the Mutants' devices throughout the carriage.
The emergency situation made him even more nervous. Fortunately, he managed to use the key to open the switch and disable the functions of the × gene suppression collar one by one.
Just as the aliens were about to reach him, all the X-Gene Suppression Collars changed from red to green, indicating that the most powerful Mutants had finally been freed.
The liberated Cyclops was the fastest to react; with a press of the blindfold switch, a dark red Optic Blast immediately knocked down the alien that was attacking the last U.S. military.
Meanwhile, the mimic aliens, who were halfway through the aisle of the carriage, were caught in a pincer attack by the Mutants, and many of them were taken down in the first instance.
It's important to know that this train carriage was filled with key members of the X- X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants. Except for a few individuals, their combat abilities were formidable, and they could be said to have turned the situation inside the carriage upside down in an instant.
But the aliens who boarded the train were not just a few kittens.
Not only were aliens continuously pouring in from the rear carriages, but attacks were also launched at the people inside the carriages from the skylights above the carriages and the sliding doors on both sides.
The Black Hawk helicopter guarding the area outside had already been shot down by the aliens. And other reinforcements were still on their way.
Those defeated aliens didn't just lie there obediently. As long as their injuries weren't fatal, they could return to the battlefield full of energy, as if they had been fully revived.
In addition, these aliens, combined with their racial talents, designed Biochemical Mimetic Armor with powerful defenses that are impenetrable to ordinary rifle bullets, as well as strength boosts far exceeding those of humans, making them as formidable as Earth's super soldiers.
Even the combined might of the X-Men Brotherhood of Mutants couldn't overwhelm their opponent.
Magneto, seeing the cramped conditions inside the carriage, immediately commanded, "Cyclops, Storm, and Red Lotus, the three of you go up to the top of the carriage to defend and block the enemy's advance."
"Nightcrawler, take the professor to the front carriage and try to wake our Sleeping Beauty. Selene, Beast, you two come with me to push the enemy back, and once we reach the back carriage, cut the link."
"Wait!" shouted the soldier who had removed the Mutants restraints. "We have comrades in the back carriages."
Magneto replied ruthlessly, "Don't worry, soldiers, they're not the target. As long as they didn't die at the beginning, the chances of them being deliberately killed are slim. You can try to find a way to save them yourself; we can't worry about the others."
You should know by now who they're targeting.
The Reason is Reason, but it just sounds really unpleasant.
However, Magneto had no time to care about the feelings of an United States soldier during the battle. He directly took control of the rifles and pistols scattered on the ground, forming a gun volley in the space in front of him, and unleashed a barrage of fire on the aliens who followed into the carriage.
If the rifle misses, it will be used to launch a suicide attack, smashing it at the enemy.
In reality, this method isn't very effective; it only delays the large-scale entry of aliens through this opening. Magneto's real killing move is to insert pieces of metal or bars directly into the aliens' bodies, creating truly fatal wounds and kinetic energy to push them away.
The other Mutants also carried out their plans according to Magneto's instructions.
First, Cyclops a massive Optic Blast that not only pierced through the skylight but also blasted away the surrounding enemies.
Using his whip-like hair, Red Lotus lifted himself onto the roof of the train. Cyclops, on the other hand, floated onto the roof with Storm's help.
