I damn well don't want to
Compared to the overweight, dark-skinned senator dressed in a silk nightgown, Henry, who was dragged over like a dead dog, was still wearing the same clothes as yesterday. He hadn't brought a change of clothes for this reluctant new job.
The two men in black suits who had carried Henry all the way here threw him to the ground as soon as they reached the congressman. Henry cried out in pain, "Ouch!"
The fat senator, undeterred by his arrogant demeanor, looked down at Henry, who was lying face down with his rear end in the air, and said, "Mutants,"
It's time for you to prove your worth. Protect me and get me safely away.
Henry rolled over, sat on the ground, and slowly took out a cigarette from who-knows-where, lighting it respectfully and slowly as if performing some kind of ritual.
After exhaling a long puff of smoke, he said, "Mr. Congressman, please forgive me for refusing this job. I never wanted to work for you in the first place, so why make things difficult for someone as insignificant as me?"
"You!" The fat senator swallowed hard, then his face changed drastically, and he said viciously, "Do you know what happens if you offend me, Mutants?"
"What will happen?" Henry asked, his eyes wide with curiosity.
"If I don't live, neither do you," the fat councilor roared at his entourage. "Kill him! I'll handle the rest."
I have no idea where this fat black congressman hired his gang of ruthless men. One word from him and almost everyone pulled out their guns and fired!
There were also some who just stood there watching the show; this group was mostly with the same group that had carried Henry out earlier. But they didn't have time to stop their companions; the whole group just watched as the man sitting on the ground was shot down by a hail of bullets.
Henry continued to scream and shout as if he were really doing something. The shooter didn't think much of it and kept firing as long as he heard the sound, until he emptied a magazine.
Henry was shot and rolled on the ground, the floor beside him also suffering the same fate, riddled with bullet holes.
But when everyone had run out of bullets, Henry, who was still rolling on the ground, changed from crying out in pain to letting out a loud, mocking laugh.
Seeing this scene finally reminded everyone why they had sought out this man in the first place.
The portly senator wore that same dumbfounded, comical expression. Completely disregarding the fact that he had ordered his men to fire, he quickly changed his tune, saying, "I'll give you a million to protect me as I leave."
Henry laughed and said, "Oh, Mr. Congressman, I may not be able to do what you ask. I'm in pain all over right now."
It's possible there's also a fracture, muscle strain, broken finger, and split ends.
"If someone shoots me a few more times, I might not make it. So I'll save that hundred cubic meters for a decent funeral; maybe I can even hire an archbishop to officiate. Ah, I'm dying, dying—hahahahaha!"
Even the best actors can't hold back in this situation, and Henry burst out laughing. He laughed so hard he rolled on the floor.
"Fuck! You're dead, you're really dead. I know the military is still conducting Mutants experiments. You think just because bullets can't hurt you, you can—"
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Gunshots rang out at close range. The reason Henry had been making a scene here for so long was simply to buy time and let the gunmen break in.
Today's matter is very simple; Henry doesn't even need to devise a scheme to kill someone else. This Old Black is only clinging to someone else because he himself has become someone else's target.
Without needing to expose yourself or get your hands dirty, you can simply play dead and do nothing, and someone will naturally step in to deal with this guy.
However, whether it was because these people were slow to understand or for some other reason, the fat Old Black in front of them was only focused on himself, and none of the people around him gave him a warning.
Is this a case of desperate measures being taken? Otherwise, it's inconceivable that a normal person would behave so idiotically.
What's even more dangerous is that the group that stormed in was quite disciplined. While the attention of those inside was diverted, they didn't alert the enemy. Instead, they quietly spread out their ranks, occupying all the advantageous positions in front, and semi-encircling the councilor and his entourage.
Once they've finished setting up, launch the attack immediately!
Henry could be considered the biggest accomplice; he even used himself as bait, causing most of the congressman's entourage to empty their magazines.
So in the first wave of attacks, they took down quite a few people. But the black congressman, who occupied the largest area, seemed to be divinely protected, and not a single bullet pierced him.
Partly because it was late at night, the room was only dimly lit, and everyone could only see shadowy figures, making it difficult to distinguish who was who.
Faced with this obvious encirclement, the congressman's entourage, as if their intelligence had suddenly returned, didn't stop to exchange fire with the enemy while their guns were still loaded. Instead, they directly escorted their employer away in the direction of retreat.
As for the unfortunate man who was shot, his fate was unknown, and no one came to his aid. Even Henry, who was clearly uncooperative, was abandoned.
Even if they're stupid, they should see things clearly this time. Bringing Henry along is not only useless, but could even be a hindrance.
So no one suggested taking him away and continuing to use him as a human shield. Because to do that, at least someone would have to "take" him.
It would take at least two people, slow things down, and he might reveal his location by speaking, and then they couldn't kill him—at this point, everyone really wanted to ask, which idiot suggested recruiting this Mutants?
Henry, who had just sat up from the ground, smiled and watched coldly as the Old Black, dark-skinned senator with a muddled mind fled like a wolf.
Previously, many wealthy and powerful Old Money with more influence than this Old Black had extended offers to Henry. Henry rejected them all, and the men left with smiles without uttering a single complaint.
Old Money more cultured?
Stop joking. Because those people understand that if the person isn't willing to cooperate in this kind of bulletproof job, they might as well buy a few more bulletproof briefcases for their team.
Furthermore, being an attendant inevitably involves a degree of involvement with one's privacy. Therefore, whether this person is trustworthy becomes a very important matter.
Can such a person be forced or threatened into submission? That's like asking for trouble; aren't you afraid the other party will let you down at a crucial moment?
Any normal person could figure this out. That's why, when Henry was trying to prove he could be Audrey Hepburn's assistant and bodyguard, he chose to reveal his Steel Body abilities among his many superpowers.
Because this is a purely defensive, passive ability, it poses the least threat to others; and for others to exploit it, Henry's willingness is the most crucial factor.
What If...? simple inducement doesn't work, then threats are the only option. Since threats against the individual are generally ineffective, the only remaining option is to work on interpersonal relationships.
Who should be taken hostage to threaten a mysterious person who has no parents, no wife, no children, and no girlfriend?
Earlier, in the eyes of some Old Money, Audrey Hepburn could be Henry Brown's weakness, but now that she's dead, is it really possible to dig up her grave and use her corpse to threaten someone?
Henry stayed to perform this farce today to prove to the audience that no matter how big the world is, he's the one who's unhappy!
Turning the tables? If I don't want to, nobody can touch me with a spatula!
