Nick Fury's Legacy
Nick Fury didn't forget that the serum with its Infinity Formula needs regular injections to achieve its anti-aging effects.
If the injections are stopped, even if the body is still in a healthy state, it will collapse in a very short time and then die.
Nick Fury replied calmly, "I don't care about my own death. If I can take a bunch of parasites with me, that would be much more valuable."
"I don't deny the contributions of the Old Money to society, but I can't agree with their attitude towards life. You absolutely cannot imagine how audacious these people are."
Nick Fury pressed on to the crux of the matter, saying, "If the raw materials are gone, we can just find a way to get more. Is there anything on this earth that can't stump them?"
"You've already given the answer. It's true that it doesn't exist on Earth, but that's not necessarily true outside of Earth," Nick Fury said with a sneer.
A puzzled Nick Fury asked, "What raw material doesn't exist on Earth?"
"Kree blood."
"The Kree? What are those?"
Nick Fury said, "An alien race. World War II, they accidentally captured a crashed alien spacecraft. The blood of the dead pilots, combined with a modified Infinite Formula elixir of immortality formula, was used to develop the SSS Serum, also known as the Infinity Formula."
"As a race that hasn't even ventured beyond our Solar System, no one can expect aliens to deliver resources that are similar to meteorites to our doorstep once we've used them up."
"So you drained that driver dry?" Nick Fury asked in surprise.
"Including bone marrow and bodily fluids, not a single drop was left."
"I'm just curious, who would take a dead alien and make a drug that a normal person would have to ingest or inject? And the most bizarre thing is that you actually had the guts to eat it!"
Nick Fury explained, "The Japan scientist we captured at the beginning never mentioned what the raw materials were. We were soldiers; we had no choice but to obey." Operation Paperclip wasn't just targeting the scientist Yoshiyuki Itouchi.
Furthermore, during World War II, don't assume that only Hydra was evil and everyone else was good. All the participating countries, regardless of victory or defeat, were not good people. During the war, they all committed inhumane acts; it's just a matter of how later generations interpret them.
Nick Fury didn't know whether to laugh or be angry at his father's explanation. He said, "So you've come to me now hoping to live off me in my old age? Can I ask how much inheritance you have first?"
With a displeased look, Nick Fury said, "You don't need to worry about that kind of thing; I have my own arrangements. But there are some things I do need to explain to you beforehand."
"Tell me, I'll decide whether to do it or not based on my mood."
"After I die, I'll put this eye in the same old place. Remember to retrieve it and keep it safe." One-eyed Benedict Nick Fury pointed to his intact eyeball.
"Why? Don't you think it would be more useful to leave me something of greater value?"
"This eyeball has access to the Bureau's biometric system and holds the highest level of privileges. You might need it someday, but the opportunity may only be once or twice. So use it with caution."
"Can you activate a nuclear bomb?" Nick Fury scoffed.
"Some intelligence is more dangerous than a nuclear bomb. You'll understand why once you're at a high enough altitude."
Nick Fury scoffed, offering no comment.
Taking a file folder from inside his black leather coat, Nick Fury tossed it onto the table and said, "This is a suggestion: assemble a team of your own, one that no one else knows about."
"This file contains a list of people I've gathered who might be of use. You'll have to figure out how to recruit them and raise the necessary funds to support them."
"This is your own strength. The organization's approach is not reliable at all. What If...? you can't do this, it means that's all you're capable of."
Nick Fury didn't even glance at the file folder on the table, and sneered, "Instead of making this kind of suggestion, you might as well just give me command of the Howling Commandos."
"That team belonged to Captain America, now it belongs to Carter. I'm just a member, I have no command authority, how can I give it to you? Besides, you can't command respect. Go build your own team, don't embarrass yourself in front of those veterans."
"I also fought in the Vietnam War," Nick Fury said, dissatisfied.
Nick Fury scoffed, "Trying to bully a bunch of monkeys in the jungle and losing? I can just imagine how you'll be roasted when you meet those old buddies."
"Although we brought in some Mutants to fight, they didn't utilize their advantages, and the ones who stabbed us in the back the most were actually our own people. Do you want me to tell you more?"
Nick Fury was speechless. He silently began flipping through the files. He intended to skim through them, but upon seeing the first document, he couldn't help but look at it a few more times, and then came to a conclusion. "Is this Henry Brown insane?"
One-eyed Nick Fury recalled having the same thought when he first saw the man's file. But he said, "You can't deny that this man has potential."
Nick Fury summarized the information on the paper, saying, "Education is blank, but the evaluation is that he is very intelligent, speaks multiple languages, knows Tony Stark and Catherine Hepburn, and has worked as a background actor in Hollywood."
"He possesses a mutant ability that makes him invulnerable to blades and bullets, but the upper limit of his hardness is unknown; it is known that even handgun bullets cannot cause effective damage at close range. Now he works as a freelance service provider for Continental Hotel. He is the Tinkerer!"
"He's capable of handling tough challenges, logistical support, and he's also very intelligent. You could say that once he's trained, he'll be a talent with no weaknesses in any area," said Bai Nick Fury.
Turning to the second page, Nick Fury let out a loud, approving laugh. "Looks like City Councilor Mike Halton won't agree with you," he said. "Hiring him as a bodyguard, and you still ended up dead."
"That black guy is an idiot, thinking everyone will fall for his threats and bribes. Clearly, he's the type who responds better to soft tactics than hard ones, and he has the leverage to back it up. You can probably deduce that from his work experience."
After looking at it, Nick Fury said, "Crab fishing in Alaska, Hollywood extra, Audrey Hepburn's last assistant, and a freelance service provider at the Continental Hotel."
"According to somewhat vague intelligence, both the Mellon family and Stark Family families extended offers, but he didn't respond positively. In conclusion, this person cannot be coerced or bribed by ordinary means. This is the main reason for Councilman Halton's death."
"Saying it was the main reason is a bit of an exaggeration. But he really didn't make good use of this person."
Nick Fury, who had put down the file, said, "Judging from his experience, personal connections were a means for him to control himself. Of all his jobs, the one where he was Audrey Hepburn's assistant was the one he spent the longest time with."
"You could say that What If...? this washed-up star hadn't died, he might have continued in this line of work. Could beauty have tempted him? Although we don't have specially trained 'swallows' (skilled women), we do have agents skilled in seduction."
After finishing his beer, Bai Nick Fury stood up and said, "He's willing to stay with an old woman for over two years; it's not just her looks he's after. What If...? you use the wrong approach, you'll only push him further away. These kinds of people are the most troublesome."
Are you leaving?
"Because you didn't play any role, I'm going to investigate River Phoenix's death myself. We probably won't see each other again. Remember to pick up your things when you receive my message."
"One last question, how will S.H.I.E.L.D.. handle this, Director?"
After thinking for a moment, Nick Fury said frankly, "Ms. Carter is inclined to merge the two sides and is already in talks with Director Alexander Pierce about the matter."
"Because we were originally a support organization for Howling Commandos. After Ms. Carter retired, there was no one to continue organizing these people. What If...? Howling Commandos disbands, there will be no need for us to exist."
"I see."
"At that time, Nick Fury will be transferred to Director Alexander Pierce's jurisdiction as a representative of the S.H.I.E.L.D.. This is the last thing I can do to help you. Take care." After saying this, Nick Fury left.
He left Nick Fury in his apartment, looking at the files on the table with an unpredictable expression.
