Delivered Right to His Door...
The Tinkerer wore a shocked expression, which greatly pleased Agent James. Even his two companions whistled gleefully, enjoying the despair they had inflicted.
Agent James himself revealed, "Haha, what do I do? I'm very familiar with the procedures of the police and the FBI. Ever since that operation failed, I haven't mentioned you at all, and no one will know that I had you as my target."
"Even the news that you're going to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is based on intelligence gathered by others, and it has no direct connection to me. Even those two only know about a big deal, not that it involves you. So it's impossible for them to let it slip."
"I'm telling you all this to put your mind at ease. I've considered every aspect of this. As for the Continental Hotel, they do have a lot of power, but how much will they actually do for you? Are you worth them launching a retaliatory operation?"
"Don't expect those shady rats to jump out for someone as insignificant as you. You're not that important. And yet, you foolishly took a sum of money you couldn't protect—that's where you went wrong."
Sigh, why is it so easy for others to double-cross others, but I get into trouble just from doing it once in a while? Is this because I didn't completely silence them? Looks like I need to be smarter in the future.
The Tinkerer, sighing inwardly, stood up and casually brushed the dirt off his knees.
His actions naturally provoked the dissatisfaction of James and the others. The man pointing a gun at the Tinkerer from behind even swung the butt of his gun at him again!
This time, the Tinkerer didn't cooperate with the act; the force was useless against him. After being hit, he simply turned around and grinned at the burly white man who thought he had everything under control.
"What are you laughing at? Kneel down!" he said, slamming the rifle butt down again. But the result was the same; the Tinkerer didn't even flinch. And it didn't seem like he was putting up a fight; it was as if he'd been hit on a block of iron.
The others realized something was wrong and immediately raised their guns to aim.
Agent James threatened even more sternly, "I advise you to cooperate, or we'll have to open fire."
Just as the Tinkerer was facing Agent James, exposing his back to others, the guilty fellow who had smashed the Tinkerer's rifle butt a few times couldn't help but pull the trigger, shooting the target in the back of the head.
But the Tinkerer seemed to have eyes in the back of his head, dodging the shot with incredible speed.
Just as the bullet grazed the Tinkerer's face and then Agent James's cheek, about to strike the tree, the Tinkerer reached out and grabbed it from behind. This was to prevent the environment from leaving bullet marks or bloodstains containing DNA.
The crowd stared in disbelief as bullets flashed by, and then in an instant, James ran behind her and grabbed something. Their brains, in a daze, didn't even realize what they had just seen.
In that instant, a word flashed through their minds. One of them said, "You're a mutant—"
Before the Tinkerer could finish speaking, he unleashed his Super Speed once more. This time, he threw all three men back into the car they had arrived in, then used his Heat Vision to quickly weld the car door shut!
In those days, electric windows weren't standard equipment on cars, and they could only be used when the car was running.
This not-so-old model of car uses manual windows.
So when they realized they had been thrown back into the car, some tried to open the doors, some frantically pounded on the windows, and others shouted, "Let us out!" while rolling down the window handles to get the windows down as quickly as possible so they could climb out.
"Seriously, you're a law enforcement officer. The way you're doing this makes me, a law-abiding alien, look like a joke. And there are definitely a lot of people laughing at me."
The disgruntled Tinkerer wasn't about to give them a chance. He braced himself against the bottom of the car, easily lifted it up, then slipped under it, lifting the entire vehicle off the ground. And then it soared into the sky!
The other party kindly covered up all traces for him and even taught him a valuable lesson: without a household registration, there is no case. Tinkerer, after all, is bound to learn and apply Reason he's learned.
Destroying a body with aqua regia or incineration with Heat Vision is too slow. Sinking it into the sea or throwing it into the deep mountains and forests still carries a chance of being discovered. So the Tinkerer carried a car on his head and flew vertically upwards at an extremely high speed, breaking out of the atmosphere in no time.
It means that the three people in the car had already passed out during the upward surge due to the immense G-force. The Tinkerer had no intention of using his Biological Force Field to protect anyone.
His speed was far greater than Earth's escape velocity, and even far exceeded the thrust of all Rocket on Earth. The three people inside the car were not simply unconscious, but suffered severe injuries including organ damage.
They didn't even have time to feel the thinning air and dropping temperature, nor did they experience the vacuum environment after leaving the atmosphere.
They quickly took their lives.
The three of them were like inflated balloons, the internal pressure stretching their skin to its limit. The internal bleeding from the damaged organs made their swollen skin turn bright red, almost oozing blood.
After gaining the ability to fly, this was Henry's first time flying outside the atmosphere. For a moment, Henry felt a little uncomfortable. But the Yellow Sun quickly relieved his discomfort. He felt warm all over and could feel a significant increase in strength.
The object being held in one's hands had long since become light and airy after escaping Earth's gravity. If one were to let go now, perhaps this car would remain stuck on Earth's orbit, forever circling the planet before colliding with other objects and changing direction.
The Tinkerer had no intention of adding a completely useless piece of junk to Earth's already busy satellite orbits. He grabbed the car's front bumper, spun around, and hurled it towards the Sun Pharma.
According to the Tinkerer's estimate, at this rate, in a few months, this car, which shouldn't be in outer space, will be captured by the Sun Pharma's gravity and sucked into that huge, high-temperature incinerator, leaving nothing behind.
Such a method of destroying evidence shouldn't leave any trace that could be found and traced back to the repairman. Aside from spirit mediumship or a dream, the Tinkerer couldn't think of any other possibility.
Speaking of which, how should the souls of the dead be accounted for? Do demons like Mephisto have any way to enter the Sun Pharma and retrieve souls? Or do they obediently drift back to Earth on their own? Or do they leave their bodies at the moment of death? Henry wondered.
He floated in outer space, basking in the Sun Pharma, pondering whether he had done something wrong recently. Why was he always being bothered by a bunch of inexplicable people?
However, just minutes earlier, operators at U.S. military early warning radar base on the West Coast detected an anomaly on the radar image.
The warning button was pressed immediately.
The duty officer immediately went to the radar operator and asked, "What have you found?"
"An unidentified object." But the target vanished just as the radar operator pointed out the anomaly on the radar chart.
This unexpected turn of events caused both of them to frown. Looking at the radar chart, all the flight numbers and route markings for civilian aircraft appeared normal, as if the anomaly just now was merely a screen malfunction.
"Where did that come from?"
"Um—" the radar operator stammered.
"Answer me."
"Sir, it's within the territory of California. And it hasn't moved."
"What's going on?" The duty officer was also encountering this situation for the first time. He asked again, "Any other characteristics?"
"Although the target didn't move, its altitude increased very rapidly. I suspect it disappeared because it had exceeded the radar's detection altitude."
Was it an ICBM? Or a NASA Rocket launch? Why didn't the nuclear warning system issue an alert?
"That's unlikely. There's no missile launch site there, nor is it a NASA launch site. Besides, wouldn't they notify us beforehand for that kind of maneuver? And the target is very small, not at the size of Rocket."
"So what do you think it could be?"
"I don't know either, sir," the radar operator said honestly. Seeing his superior's conflicted expression, he asked, "Should we record this anomaly and report it to our superiors?"
After racking his brains for a while, the duty officer said, "Report the facts. The target appeared briefly and then disappeared."
We can't determine the threat level. Investigating what this thing is isn't our responsibility; it's someone else's.
"Yes, sir." After exchanging a few words with the radar operator next to him, the radar operator went to prepare the written report.
