It was Nick Fury's turn to speak. General Ross's opening remarks had already given him a hunch.

The Skrulls are a difficult group to tame. But this behavior is quite normal.

After all, how could a group of people who frequently change their appearance, infiltrate other camps, and may even be surrounded by powerful enemies, possibly be subservient, always asking for instructions from superiors, and not daring to make decisions on their own?

Those kinds of people probably wouldn't last three days before being hung in cages. Not to mention they come from a civilization with technology far more advanced than Earth's.

Nick Fury didn't intend to change the Skrulls' inherent traits and turn them into obedient soldiers. He wasn't a general, and he didn't need blind soldiers. What he had to do was far more difficult.

"Friends," Nick Fury said casually, in a tone different from when he spoke to the boy Gravik, "This is my first time meeting Talos..."

"Oh, or rather, from our very first friendly meeting, I believed that Earthlings and Skrulls could achieve good cooperation under the premise of fairness and mutual benefit."

"Because we know that neither of us is the kind of bloodthirsty, cruel bastard who would stop at nothing to achieve his own goals, regardless of the losses of others."

"Of course, maybe at the beginning we both thought the other was that kind of person, but we didn't know each other very well. Fortunately, in the end we both proved that we weren't such bastards."

Talos readily accepted Nick Fury's joke, laughing a few times in response. The Skrulls had been feeling uneasy, relaxed a little and laughed along with him.

"But friends!" Nick Fury shouted, drawing everyone's attention. "What you've been through tells me that this universe is extremely dangerous."

"The backward Earth is unable to stand at the same level as you and fight an interstellar war. We don't even have a unified political system internally. Instead, we are divided into hundreds of countries, which are both allied and hostile to each other."

"Carol Danvers and I have both made the same commitment to finding a new, safe home for you all. But this is not something that can be done overnight; it takes time and effort for both of us."

"That's why you're here today, why you've come to Earth. It's all a necessary compromise for a better tomorrow."

"Here, I would like to ask you to help me. Help me end the wars on this planet and resolve those pointless disputes. Helping us is also helping yourselves."

"Perhaps you cannot walk under the blazing Sun Pharma with your true appearance and need to use a disguise to blend into this world. But I still ask that you all stand with me and work together for tomorrow, for that foreseeable and beautiful future."

As the leader of this group of Skrulls, it was certainly inappropriate for Talos to speak at this time. It could easily be interpreted as a decisive statement.

But his wife, Soren, had no such restrictions. She simply stepped forward and said, "I'm willing to help you, Nick Fury." At the same time, she changed her Skrulls appearance into a fair-skinned, brown-haired Earth woman.

"Thank you," Nick Fury said sincerely.

With the first person taking the lead, there was a second, a third, and even the Skrulls brought by General Ross all transformed into Earthlings, willing to work for Nick Fury's cause.

The King of Earth's Spies has officially launched. Probably no one would guess that he earned this title by having a group of shapeshifters under his command.

On the very first day of the alliance, Nick Fury certainly wouldn't treat people like cattle and send them out all over the world.

How to organize, how to make contact, who is suitable to be assigned to where—all these things need to be arranged now. Although he has made some preparations and designed several plans, things can only be determined after they are actually started.

So the first day was perhaps the last day these Skrulls could relax. Nick Fury didn't intend to drive them to work like cattle. Instead, he settled them in properly, providing them with good food and drink.

Calling it a "killing meal" might be an exaggeration. But to get a good horse to run, you have to feed it first, which is perfectly reasonable. On the contrary, if you let it run first and then give it fodder afterward, can you really expect the horse to achieve good results?

Barbara Morse was Nick Fury's assistant, handling the minutiae related to the Skrulls. Partly, she was familiar with these aliens, having dealt with them before, regardless of whether the reasons for those interactions were good or bad.

However, she's no longer some naive college student who was tricked into working illegally and thought she was a government employee. Barbara Morse knows very well that Nick Fury's contact with the Skrulls was entirely behind S.H.I.E.L.D..

After she had appeased the group of green-skinned aliens and made them eat and drink happily, Barbara Morse, feeling her forced smile was about to freeze, finally approached Nick Fury and complained:

"If it weren't for Old Man Nick Fury's last words, which were for me to take care of you, I wouldn't want to get involved in things here."

Nick Fury was somewhat displeased when a certain white old man was mentioned, saying, "Don't try to intimidate me with that old man. It was his advice to organize my own forces."

"Besides, these people were thrown over by Carol, how can I ignore them? Compared to letting them infiltrate Earth and live without our knowledge, at least they're under my watchful eye now."

"I made an agreement with the Skrulls. How many people come and who they are are all under my control. If the Skrulls break their agreement, no one can handle our angry Captain Marvel."

Barbara Morse asked a very direct question, "After finding a habitable planet, will they really leave? Are you confident you can help them find one?" It was clear that this girl still didn't trust the Skrulls.

Nick Fury, however, said, "What the Skrull Empire found, the Kree Empire can find too. That's why they've been on the run, and the Kree have been chasing them."

"Comparing the technological levels of those two cosmic empires, do you think Earth can help them find a habitable planet that neither of them has discovered?"

Barbara Morse astutely grasped the crux of Nick Fury's statement and asked, "You think they're targeting Earth?"

Even if you don't intend to colonize it now, you should at least put Earth on the shortlist.

"Then why didn't they make a move?"

Nick Fury said, "It's because of our Captain Marvel, of course. What other reason could there be? Without Carol's protection, they simply couldn't fight off the Kree pursuers."

"Therefore, they must compromise with Carol's demands. As long as her importance remains unchanged, the Skrulls will not risk offending her by targeting Earth."

"So, if the importance changes, the Skrulls might change their policies. Is that right?" Barbara Morse said.

"That's right." Nick Fury suppressed the itching under his blindfold and continued, "But the chances of that are slim. You didn't see Carol destroy an alien missile with her bare hands, or sink a large interstellar warship all by herself."

"Such powerful individuals are extremely rare, even in the universe. Talos and the others acknowledge this. That's why the Skrulls cling so tightly to this powerful figure."
