Greetings to You
Henry didn't bother to check the speaker's appearance, because he couldn't. The other person was in the basement and about to go up to the first floor, so there was no way to immediately find a window to check.
His office area wasn't a busy place, and there were far fewer people compared to other areas. So, throughout the day, no one here had a chance to talk to anyone else. Naturally, Henry couldn't spot his target early on.
Since he was already preparing to leave work, he figured he could simply wait outside and see what the other person looked like. So Henry wasn't in a hurry at all.
To avoid glare from the lenses and attracting the attention of those inside the 6CΦ, Henry, who had been hesitant to use the telescope much, picked it up again.
The target went up to the first floor and then down the stairs to the underground parking lot. Since the parking lot only had one entrance and exit, Henry found a better vantage point and waited for the target to drive out.
As the dilapidated car pulled out of the underground parking garage driveway, Henry peered through his binoculars and recognized the man in the driver's seat. It was the same man who had been the primary perpetrator of his torment during those last three years.
The moment I put down the binoculars, I was overwhelmed with emotion. I didn't feel the burning anger and resentment, nor the satisfaction of revenge, nor the fear of past traumas resurfacing.
If we're talking about being shocked, I probably already exhausted my shock limit when I saw those twenty-three familiar faces in the United States all at once.
My current feeling is more like playing a game before I transmigrated, desperately trying to get the platinum badge by completing meaningless and stupid achievements. I'm just focused on getting this one done quickly so I can move on to the next.
It's tough on the game companies; they've come up with all this stuff just to extend the player experience. To make the money I spent on the game worthwhile, I guess I'll just have to comply. Anyway, it's not that bad; one of the purposes of playing games is to pass the time, right?
This feeling of having no emotion whatsoever while doing homework is exactly how I feel right now. To put it bluntly, I'm just too bored.
I followed the person home; it was a rather upscale-looking apartment building, not one of those typical tenement buildings.
It seems that whether before or after the collapse of the Soviet Union, these kinds of people always enjoyed good treatment. Or perhaps they could find some illicit income to maintain their quality of life?
After confirming which room he had entered, Henry used his Molecular Phasing ability to pass through the security gate on the first floor and the door of his own house.
Since it wasn't a major military unit, there weren't many alarms or surveillance measures. Henry entered the single apartment without any problems.
This house could easily accommodate a small family. However, the interior decoration lacks a family feel, and of course, it also lacks the sensuality that women typically possess; instead, it exudes a strong sense of masculine simplicity and strength.
Specifically, there are no photos, vases, or other purely decorative items. The shoe cabinets and bookshelves are also in a practical style, which doesn't quite match the aristocratic luxury style left over from the Tsarist Russia era of the house.
The furniture is extremely simple; aside from items that are actually useful, there's nothing designed for comfort or unusual purposes, like fitness equipment such as treadmills.
The color scheme is also very monotonous, consisting mainly of white and gray, with at most gray having different shades. Being in it gives one an indescribable sense of oppression.
Who are you? How did you get in?
While visiting someone's home, Henry was suddenly confronted by the homeowner who pointed a gun at him.
He only glanced at the other person's appearance; calm and steady, he seemed to have killed quite a few people. At least he wasn't like some clerical workers who trembled when holding a gun.
Henry didn't answer the question, but continued looking around the house, casually asking in return, "Do you live alone all the time? Haven't you thought about finding a partner? Aren't you lonely?"
"This is none of your business, intruder."
Or do you prefer the feeling of dismembering them to having them under your arms? Ah, how perverted. I don't want to know this feeling. What do you know!" The man held the gun level in front of him, his threatening posture obvious.
"Andrei Popov. Or Mikhail Kuzmin? Is this an alias? Or have you adopted a completely new identity?"
"Who are you?" The same question was asked again. Only this time, Andrei Popov's voice trembled slightly.
"Have you ever regretted what you did in the past?" Henry finally looked directly at the man pointing a gun at him and asked, putting the German anatomy book back on the shelf.
"Regret? What's there to regret? It's just a job, and I enjoy it. Isn't this the theoretically ideal working state? Do you have any family or friends who have experienced my methods? You should go find the person who gave the order."
Henry clicked his tongue and shook his head, saying, "Clearly a shameful accomplice, an associate, yet he can so confidently shift the blame onto others, as if the matter has nothing to do with him at all."
Such a spirit is truly enviable. I also wish I could live with a bit more ruthlessness, but my conscience won't allow it. Perhaps I should learn from you."
Having run out of patience, Andrei Popov said menacingly, "You don't think I'm afraid to shoot someone, do you? Breaking into the home of a 6CΦ member, even if I kill you, I won't bear any responsibility."
If you tell me who ordered you to do this, I might spare your life. Otherwise, you'll experience the full extent of my skills.
Despite his threatening tone, which sounded like he was demanding to know the purpose of the attack, Andrei Popov fired three shots at the same time!
It seems the threat was just a distraction; the real purpose was to shoot and kill. Henry was getting tired of constantly getting bullet holes in his clothes. So this time, he used Super Speed to dodge the bullets.
At the same time, he took out PSM Pocket Pistol and pressed it against the other person's forehead from the front.
The trigger wasn't pulled immediately. Henry was considering whether to say goodbye to the other man before sending him on his way.
The situation reversed instantly. Andrei Popov could no longer maintain his composure and asked in a broken voice, "Who are you? Why did you come to kill me?"
"Ennu No Odin (Alien One) sends you greetings, Mr. Mikhail Kuzmin. Are you still alive?"
"Bang!" The gunshot interrupted Andrei Popov's words. The armor-piercing bullet had created a clean penetration wound, without the bowl-sized exit wound caused by the cavitation effect.
Henry calmly fired two more shots into the opponent's heart, fulfilling the tactical principle of two shots to the body and one to the head—well, only the firing order seemed to be reversed?
In short, Henry didn't have the cool demeanor of a real man who would turn and walk away after firing a shot. He patiently waited for the other person to lose all vital signs, making sure that the person was absolutely beyond saving.
Although his Super Hearing alerted him that the neighbors had called the police because of the gunshots and that officers would arrive at any moment, he stayed behind in case the person wasn't completely dead and he had to come back to clean up the mess later.
In this short time, Henry didn't forget to put on gloves and ransack the house, taking all the valuables and the deceased's wallet. He also turned a burglary into a robbery.
He didn't want to be discovered too quickly, thus necessitating increased security measures for others. Therefore, he needed to create some misleading information in this case.
Hearing the hurried footsteps of the Russia police rushing upstairs, Henry once again used his Molecular Phasing ability to leave the house and fly into the night.
