Oscorp a powerful conglomerate comparable in size to Stark Industries. However, its rise to prominence is more similar to that of Old Money families like the Rockefeller and Mellon, achieved through generations of hard work, mergers, and alliances.

However, the previous chairman was Amberson Osborn, a man hailed as a great entrepreneur. Due to a policy misstep, the company's competitiveness declined sharply, even bringing an economic crisis to the family.

The direct consequence was that, in order to survive, the company's shareholding became more dispersed. This made Oscorp unlike Stark Industries, which became a one-man show under the chairman Norman Osborn, with constant power struggles on the board.

Even so, Norman Osborn's iron fist effectively restrained the voice of the board of directors and led Oscorp to continuous growth.

From military industry and cutting-edge technology to biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, all business fields at the forefront of technology are the direction of Oscorp's development.

The chairman of a super-corporation of this caliber is not someone that S.H.I.E.L.D. head of S. H. I. E. L. D.'s Eastern Europe branch could easily approach.

The wealthiest client John Garrett connected with was Ian Quinn of Quinn Global, the owner of a large multinational corporation and also a participant in the Deathlok Project. However, this connection was only established through Hydra.

Based on the information about the alien Henry Brown, and the personnel of the former Red Empire's Siberian Alien Research Institute, Nikolai Semyonov, the last living person, was employed in the biological department of Oscorp.

John Garrett finally got to meet Norman Osborn and proposed a trapping plan.

From inside the Oscorp to Nikolai Semyonov's residence, John Garrett and Norman Osborn deployed various surveillance devices and personnel without the knowledge of the individuals they were acting as bait.

They even used some laboratory weapons that were not in service with the military to deal with an "invulnerable" alien.

Don't bring up concepts from comic books like "Superman" or "Kryptonite," or you'll make any entrepreneur laugh their head off.

For them, if a weapon can't be penetrated, it's a matter of weapon power; What If...? even greater power is useless, then it's a matter of yield. Many weapons developed in laboratories haven't been adopted or deployed by the military, usually not because they lack sufficient power.

It is very likely that the issue is simply related to the weapon's reliability and the cost of manufacturing or using it.

This extremely unusual situation presented a perfect opportunity to use it and conduct a practical test. Norman Osborn wasn't so stingy as to hesitate to use it.

With both psychologists confidently asserting that What If...? the other's vengeful obsession was truly so deep, they would surely fall into a trap within days, Norman Osborn rearranged his original schedule and, accompanied by John Garrett, waited in vain for several days.

He was willing to wait because he was primarily interested in Henry Brown, a smart man favored by Tony Stark and accomplished in cinematic digital imaging technology.

Besides being a businessman, Norman Osborn was also an accomplished scientist and researcher. This advantage was a major factor in silencing the other board members.

Such a person, while not necessarily eager for talent, at least clearly understood the value of Henry Brown's expertise in the technical field, and thus became interested.

He had initially thought this person was just a Mutants with special abilities, but it turned out to be an alien! This unexpected surprise further piqued Norman Osborn's interest.

Since obtaining a Super-Soldier Serum sample through some channel in 1992, the biotechnology department of Oscorp has been working on a project commissioned by the military.

Originally, the project only aimed to replicate and mass-produce the Super-Soldier Serum, which was supposedly derived from Captain America; however, in late 1996, the project's goal suddenly changed to creating an even more powerful serum.

This suddenly increased the difficulty of the project, which was already making no progress. Even though Norman Osborn increased research resources several times, including funding and manpower, he did not achieve corresponding results.

This is why Norman Osborn seemed concerned when someone mentioned that researchers in his biology department were being targeted for assassination, and wanted to hear what John Garrett planned to do.

Now, he's more interested in live alien samples than acquiring a talented individual. He wants to find a way to break through the Super-Soldier Serum by examining the aliens' DNA.

Unfortunately, during the operation of the Siberian Alien Research Institute, the samples taken from the targets were all destroyed because the institute was shut down, the researchers went their separate ways, and the live samples decomposed due to improper management and preservation.

Therefore, Norman Osborn was looking forward to obtaining fresh, live samples so that he could conduct his biotechnology research as soon as possible.

But after waiting for several days, the busy man's patience gradually wore thin. At first, he was chatting and laughing with John Garrett, a former secret service agent, and the topic naturally revolved around "Henry Brown".

This genius, discovered by Tony Stark, had no formal education whatsoever. Norman Osborn had only been curious about him, without seriously investigating his background and circumstances. John Garrett's information filled that gap perfectly.

Gradually, John Garrett ran out of information, and a silence fell between them. As time went on, Norman Osborn's expression grew increasingly grim, and John Garrett became more and more restless.

John Garrett knew very well that compared to someone of Norman Osborn's caliber, he was not afraid of that man's immense power What If...? he were to plot against him from the shadows.

But once you're out in the open, sitting shoulder to shoulder with the other person, you can't afford to be manipulated by even a single finger.

Even if someone is killed on the spot, as long as no evidence is found, S.H.I.E.L.D.. will simply add a final entry to their own file and then shelve it. They will neither avenge themselves nor seek justice or fairness.

When Kaminsky's deputy, arrived at the private bar area of Oscorp chairman's office, a distraught John Garrett jumped up and asked, "The target has fallen into a trap? Where is he?"

Sensing the unusual atmosphere in the bar, the young agent Kaminsky instinctively wanted to flee. But he steeled himself and approached John Garrett, reporting, "Sir, the target has left Los Angeles."

"That kid's got real patience; he waited until today to leave Los Angeles. Where did he go? Did he set a trap at Semyonov's house, or infiltrate the Oscorp?"

"No, he went to Alaska."

Upon hearing his subordinate's answer, John Garrett was dumbfounded and asked, "What's he going to Alaska for at this time of year?"

"The old bartender who took him in died while he was in Alaska. He was probably going to the funeral."

What was clearly a reasonable excuse now only made John Garrett feel like he was being pricked by a thorn in his side. The gaze behind him felt like a tangible blade, piercing several holes in him.

John Garrett cursed inwardly, "That kid has no time for revenge! What's he doing running off to Alaska in the dead of winter? What's so special about attending an old man's funeral? Does he have a million-dollar fortune to inherit?"
