The Rules of the Game
Tony Stark, a man of fierce ambition, would never easily admit defeat.
He spent several days collecting chess grandmaster game records and figuring out how to quickly transcribe them into computer data and input them into JARVIS's database before reconnecting with Miss A.
Despite seeing the score reach zero, Tony Stark didn't think much of it and let JARVIS start playing against Miss A.
As JARVIS's victories accumulated, the young Stark's mood brightened. But soon...
He sensed something was wrong.
Tony Stark was confident in the Artificial Intelligence he had trained using a large number of game records, but as long as the opponent maintained their previous level, it was impossible for them to only lose one-sidedly.
He stopped the two Artificial Intelligence games, randomly checked a game, and found that Miss A played terribly. She was like an uneducated elementary school student, only following the basic rules of the game and relying entirely on dice rolls for everything else.
Starting from the first game, it was indeed the same old "you play yours, I play mine" style. Miss A was immediately crushed.
In the second game, the roles were reversed, and Miss A copied JARVIS's opening moves and moves from the first game. No matter how JARVIS responded, white simply repeated the moves from the first game. When her pieces were captured and white's moves from the first game were interrupted, Miss A's game started to become chaotic again.
As Tony Stark grew puzzled, a sudden realization struck him: he wanted to review the later stages of the game from several days prior.
My sister's answer was that there was no relevant information.
This is the fourth response Tony Stark saw from this Artificial Intelligence. The first was a self-introduction, the second was basic rules of the game, the third was a replay of the game; the fourth, which is what we see now, is "no data".
: Who are you?
Hello, I am a self-learning Artificial Intelligence, Miss A121298.
The version date has changed!
Now Tony Stark truly understood what this game was all about.
It's not about chess, nor is it about who can find more game records to train their Artificial Intelligence to be better. It's about competing in the "learning" ability of Artificial Intelligence, the underlying algorithmic logic, and the mathematical prowess of two genius brains. Only then did Tony Stark find the game interesting, rather than simply being driven by competitiveness.
He stopped JARVIS and took over the game from Miss A. Using a well-trained Artificial Intelligence to fight against an Artificial Intelligence with only basic logic is like feeding your own training data to the opponent; the outcome is meaningless.
So Tony Stark retrieved JARVIS's early version from his archives and began to apply the same underlying logic as Miss A's moves.
Because the rules of chess are not static. If two Artificial Intelligence cannot play according to the same rules,
That would be an unfair competition.
Which set of rules is used doesn't matter much. Although the intention behind revising the rules is to maintain fairness between black and white, and between going first and second.
However, the rules of the game here are that black and white pieces alternate, and no single game is considered. With a large number of games played, it is fair for both Artificial Intelligence.
After setting up the underlying logic, Tony Stark played several games himself to test the moves and ensure there were no bugs.
Afterward, he deleted his game records, leaving behind a blank prototype of Artificial Intelligence.
He modestly named the new Artificial Intelligence "A.L.B.B.Y." (A Little Bit_Better then You aka ALBBY), and of course, he didn't forget to include the version number.
After doing all this, connect with Miss A and have A.L.B.B.Y. and Miss A start playing chess.
Tony Stark watched the first few games. Although Miss A had a previous record of playing against JARVIS and her opening moves were quite good, she would become chaotic and disorganized as soon as she was captured.
In short, watching the two Artificial Intelligence chess players pecking at each other, Tony Stark chuckled a few times, then turned off the chess game visualization and let the two Artificial Intelligence compete in the background.
In matches like this, you can't really see the big picture until you've played tens of thousands of games. You need at least a hundred thousand games, or even more.
Only after the learning curves of the two Artificial Intelligence stabilized did they become stable.
So Tony Stark had no choice but to wait, even though he was very unwilling.
That night, he gathered many girls to distract himself, so that he wouldn't keep wanting to watch the progress of the two Artificial Intelligence battles.
It wasn't until noon the next day that he finally stopped A.L.B.B.Y. and Miss A's game. Tony Stark first reviewed the last game before the two Artificial Intelligence were terminated.
The moves were executed with the air of a master strategist, and no more laughable moves were made.
For example, his own queen was about to be eaten, and it wasn't even a choice between two options. Yet he acted as if nothing had happened, taking his own steps and letting his queen be eaten.
In terms of the number of games played, Miss A had more wins. Looking at the win-loss curves of both sides, there was actually no difference in the win-loss ratio between the two Artificial Intelligence in the early and mid-game. However, towards the end of the game, Miss A's learning efficiency was significantly better A.L.B.B.Y.'s, resulting in more wins than losses for A-jie.
This is that guy's self-learning Artificial Intelligence algorithm logic, meaning it's even better than JARVIS.
JARVIS's development had always been carried out on "Hollywood Kid." Therefore, Tony Stark believed that the other party had been watching the whole process.
This can be seen from the fact that Henry Brown occasionally left behind some program code that could be used to speed up computation.
Therefore, given that JARVIS was observing the entire design process, it's not surprising that he created an even better Miss A.
Before connecting to the chess game website, Tony Stark didn't even know Miss A existed. If Miss A were worse at the game, Tony would want to find her and laugh at her all day.
Thinking about computational efficiency, Tony Stark began analyzing the move times of the two Artificial Intelligence. Although both were in milliseconds...
Despite their microsecond-level calculation speeds, there's still a slight difference in average thinking time between A.L.B.B.Y. and Miss A.
If we disregard the differences in the algorithmic logic of Artificial Intelligence, this means that the computer that guy used to deploy Artificial Intelligence is in no way inferior to the supercomputer of "Hollywood Kid".
Tony Stark had initially worried that the Artificial Intelligence he deployed on his supercomputer was an extremely unfair advantage. Now it seems that the hardware hidden somewhere by his opponent is in no way inferior to that of the "Hollywood Kid."
In this way, Tony Stark can focus on utilizing the supercomputer's computing power.
On second thought, doesn't this mean that besides the competition in algorithmic logic and mathematics, the competition in computer hardware has become a third level of competition?
Thinking about this, Tony Stark suddenly understood why the other party had fired him from his position as CEO of Stark Studios.
A man capable of this kind of thing would probably find it meaningless to be a boss at a film company. At least Tony himself would feel that way.
So the question comes back: what was his initial reason for agreeing? Was it just to help me keep an eye on the West Coast?
He once said he had forgotten something. But what exactly had he forgotten?
