Security Team
The United States at this time had just fought the First Gulf War, and with the reunification of Germany and the crumbling of the Red Empire to the north, United States soldiers felt invincible and unstoppable.
Even if this soldier didn't necessarily participate in that war, using the same equipment would inevitably make others think, "I could do that too." And this is probably not an illusion, but a real fact.
Even after a soldier retires, the habits formed in the military won't be so quickly worn away by everyday life.
However, Brian and his companions lacked that sharp edge; they were reserved and composed. For two seasoned stars who had seen countless people, this kind of demeanor already made them trust each other even more.
After all, a calm and composed person is more trustworthy than a hot-blooded young man. The latter is far more likely to mess things up than the former.
However, Audrey, after taking her seat, did not rashly trust anyone on the team completely. She took out a document from her bag, placed it on the table, and pushed it forward.
"This itinerary was arranged by the UNICEF. Please consider how you can cooperate with this itinerary, and whether any changes are needed to accommodate it. If so, please tell me briefly."
Regardless of which Ms. Hepburn it was, they had all come into contact with the so-called security team members, not necessarily the few burly men in front of them.
After all, during their heyday, who didn't have a few bodyguards around? Even during movie promotions, when they were traveling all over the United States, the film crew would definitely have security personnel with them to prevent any unnecessary accidents.
So Audrey Hepburn took out the schedule arranged by United Nations Children's Fund and presented it to them as a test.
Even without relevant knowledge, being protected for so long has honed one's observation skills. One can tell whether the other party is good or bad simply by listening to their plan.
If someone just sits there like a statue next to the person they're protecting, all they can muster is a fart; the quality of that team can't be very good.
However, Brian Mills was a very organized person. He went through the itinerary provided by the United Nations, explaining how his team members could coordinate and deploy at each stage of the trip.
He would also point out the shortcomings in the original plan and what adjustments needed to be made. He explained each point and each situation very clearly.
At least to the laymen present, they would only think that this person seemed very capable and that what he said was probably true.
Audrey, of course, couldn't find anything wrong with Brian's explanation and corrections. She said, "Mr. Mills, could you put what you just said into a plan?"
"You should know that if we want to revise the itinerary proposed by the UNICEF, we need to come up with a reasonable plan. We can't just arbitrarily change the plan at the last minute and demand their cooperation."
Brian Mills gave an unexpected shy smile and said, "I guess this means we got the job?"
"Of course, you're welcome." Audrey stood up and shook hands with Brian.
Brian added, "What If...? we're going to make a plan, could I keep a copy of this original itinerary for reference?"
"Of course, it's not a confidential document," Audrey replied. An assistant from the management company immediately took the document to make copies.
Audrey said, "I'm sorry, but we're a bit pressed for time, and there aren't many days left before departure. We might have to trouble you to hurry."
"We understand," Brian nodded, "--How should we contact you once our new proposal is finalized?"
"Please hand him over to my new assistant, Henry Brown." Henry did not sit down with the two big stars, but stood behind them. He nodded to Audrey as she introduced him.
Having thought about something, Audrey turned and asked, "Henry, do you have a fax machine?"
"I only have an answering machine. If I need a fax machine, I can apply for another phone line."
In the early days of the internet, when email inboxes were still in the shadows, file transfer relied on fax machines or mail.
You can buy this thing at any hardware or electrical appliance store, but to avoid competing with the telephone line, you need to apply for a separate telephone line. It's not something you can just buy and have immediately; you have to wait for the telephone company to come and install it.
So Audrey turned to her insurance agent and said, "Wells, may I borrow your fax machine?"
"Of course, ma'am."
"Then, Mr. Mills..."
Brian Mills interrupted, saying, "Madam, you can just call me Brian."
"Okay, Brian. You can call me Audrey then. What If...? you need to fax any documents, please fax them to Mr. Ronnie. What If...? you need to schedule a meeting, please contact Henry."
Henry wrote down a phone number and handed it over, saying, "Sorry, I don't have a business card yet."
The transition from an ordinary actor to a celebrity assistant is quite significant, so things around Henry haven't been ready to change yet.
Fortunately, Brian wasn't one to follow rules rigidly. After hanging up the phone, he asked, "How many people will be accompanying the lady? I need to confirm how many people I need to protect."
Audrey replied, "The United Nations personnel are accompanied by members of the peacekeeping force, so we don't need to worry. They are mainly responsible for the safety of me, my assistant, and Henry."
Although there was no need to worry about the indestructible young man either, Audrey didn't choose to gossip about it. This was also Henry's private instruction; there was really no need to talk about such things everywhere.
Besides, in her mind, Henry was just someone who couldn't be damaged by gunfire; if he were left behind during an operation, it would be a terrible situation.
However, Brian was looking at another big star present. Catherine noticed the gaze, waved her hand and laughed, "Please, you don't think an eighty-year-old woman like me would go through all that trouble for myself, do you?"
"The work on the Dark Continent is best left to you young people. I'm just here today to join the fun and see what you're all like. If you want to protect Audrey, a showy facade won't do."
"So... are we qualified, Ms. Hepburn?" Brian asked.
The quick-witted Catherine retorted, "Which Hepburn are you asking about?"
As they spoke, the two elderly sisters, who shared the same surname but were not related by blood, chuckled again.
Only then could we see Brian Mills' still somewhat green side; he blushed and scratched his head sheepishly. But his comrades didn't let him off so easily and started playfully fighting with him.
Fortunately, they remembered that they were in front of a lady and on someone else's turf, so they didn't go too far. But they still managed to rummage through Brian's carefully combed hair.
The two old sisters were even happier now.
