Background / History
Xia Qi'an was abandoned at birth and raised in Xia Family Village, Lishan County, by a mute, honest old blacksmith surnamed Xia. Born with unusual red eyes, he was mocked by villagers as “Wei Wei Red-Eyes,” though the eyes allowed him to see spirits, spiritual energy, and Turbid Qi from childhood. 3
A catastrophic flood destroyed his village. His adoptive grandfather later died from plague, leaving Xia Qi'an to flee toward Jinling with Xiao Cao, another surviving village child. During their refugee journey, his Crimson Pupils awakened more visibly when he encountered a corrupted refugee. 1 3
After delivering the deceased Hound Guard Su Mu’s letter to Wei Dao Si commander Chu Shiqing, Xia Qi'an rejected a simple monetary reward and asked to join the organization. Chu allowed him to become a reserve member if he reached the Blood Refining Realm within half a month; Xia Qi'an succeeded in less than a month. 3 4
His first Wei Dao Si assessment required him to eliminate four Fierce Ghosts. While dispersing them, he discovered that his Crimson Pupils could absorb their Turbid Qi and convert it into Bloodline Power, giving him an exceptional cultivation advantage. 5 6
Xia Qi'an won the Wei Dao Si training camp martial arts competition, defeating Su Changqing, Zhou Xiaofan, Wang Xie, and Wei Wuji. The victory earned him formal membership, several techniques, a Vital Energy Pill, and silver. 7 8
Appearance
Xia Qi'an is a tall, sturdy young man with sharp eyebrows, bright eyes, a jade-like face, and defined features. His cultivation progressively changes his physique from athletic to heavily tempered and imposing. 4 22 35
- Naturally possesses blood-red Crimson Pupils, though his eyes appear ordinary when the ability is inactive. 3
- Reached roughly 1.85 meters after advancing the Golden Body Technique’s second level. 22
- His Bronze Skin and Iron Bones grant his skin a metallic sheen and resist ordinary blades. 7
- After nine blood exchanges, his skin and muscles gained a jade-like texture and a powerful, awe-inspiring presence. 35
Personality
Xia Qi'an is ambitious, practical, and intensely determined to escape the helplessness of his refugee origins. He pursues strength, wealth, cultivation resources, and political independence because he believes power is necessary to control his own fate. 3 11
He prefers direct solutions and forceful martial arts, but is not merely reckless. He observes opponents, tracks clues through Turbid Qi, targets enemy weaknesses, and avoids dependence on powerful patrons such as Chu Shiqing. 7 9 16
Despite his ruthlessness toward criminals and hostile opponents, he is protective of those he accepts as family. He provides Xiao Cao with a home and education, honors his adoptive grandfather and Xiao Cao’s parents, and eventually treats Bata as family rather than a servant. 9 24 38
Abilities & Skills
Crimson Pupils
Xia Qi'an’s innate red eyes are the foundation of his extraordinary perception and accelerated cultivation.
- Perceive wandering spirits, spiritual energy, Turbid Qi, acupoints, meridians, and internal Blood Essence circulation. 3 4
- Track residual Turbid Qi and Blood Essence trails, allowing him to investigate demon-related incidents and pursue fleeing entities. 15 40
- Detect flaws in cultivation circulation, preventing mistakes, damaged meridians, and hidden injuries during training. 4 35
- Absorb Turbid Qi from defeated ghosts, corpses, and demons, converting it into pure Bloodline Power and Blood Essence. 5 16
- Guide Bata’s cultivation by monitoring his Blood Essence circulation. 38
Golden Body Technique
A body-tempering cultivation method Xia Qi'an refuses to abandon even after acquiring stronger techniques.
- Requires both internal cultivation and external strikes to temper skin, muscles, bones, and meridians. 4
- First layer grants Bronze Skin and Iron Bones, allowing him to withstand ordinary blades and fight weapons bare-handed. 7 8
- Second layer completes full-body bone tempering and greatly amplifies his Blood Essence and physical power. 22
- Its near-total bodily defense enabled him to endure coordinated attacks from six Bone Forging Realm martial artists. 46
Great Strength Vajra Fist
A fierce Human-tier external fist technique taught to Xia Qi'an by Jiang Feng.
- Suits Xia Qi'an’s preference for overwhelming, direct power. 7
- At Minor Accomplishment, manifests two phantom Vajra arms when fueled by Bloodline Power, effectively multiplying his attacks. 22
- Its Vajra’s Fury form allowed him to overwhelm opponents such as the Jade-Faced Martial Scholar, Yuan Fengtai, and Wei Wudao. 30 41 45
- Can manifest four visible Vajra arms alongside Xia Qi'an’s own arms in all-out combat. 41
Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track
A movement technique obtained from the Four Ghosts of Xiaoxiang.
- Its four levels were originally encoded as tattoos on the Four Ghosts’ backs; Xia Qi'an obtained the missing foundational incantation from their leader. 20
- Produces phantom-like movement and afterimages, compensating for his initially limited mobility. 22 30
- Lets him rapidly close distance, evade attacks, and create the appearance of splitting into multiple bodies. 43 46
Dragon Elephant Prajna Skill
An Earth-tier cultivation method recovered from the Tiger Demon’s collection.
- Contains thirteen levels, with each level granting the strength of one dragon and one elephant. 33
- Xia Qi'an reached the third level immediately after entering the Bone Forging Realm, granting the strength of three dragons and three elephants. 35
Other Martial Arts

- Wood Burning Saber Technique — Wei Dao Si saber art that wreathes a blade in flame and is effective against demons and strange entities. 8 32

- Xing Yi Quan / Mountain Embracing Seal — Earth-tier internal martial art developed after studying Yuan Fengtai’s style; Xia Qi'an forms his own martial intent from the Burial Ridge Mountains. 41 42
Investigation and Tactical Combat
Xia Qi'an combines supernatural perception with practical combat judgment.
- Identified the blood corpse Su Mu’s heart as its weakness by observing Turbid Qi in its body. 16
- Used Soft Tendon Gu evidence to trace the Four Ghosts of Xiaoxiang to the Stone Forest Ghost Market. 18
- Infiltrated Black Wind Stronghold, opened its gate for the Black Armored Army, and targeted the bandits’ martial-artist leaders. 12
- Exploited the Tiger Demon’s enormous body and vulnerable underside, coordinating with Su Changqing and Bata to kill it. 31 32
Commerce
Xia Qi'an produces scented soap and refined salt, using the profits to fund cultivation and improve Wei Dao Si personnel treatment.
- Established a soap workshop, trained workers, and partnered with Yang Wei. 22
- Proposed a business partnership to Si Nanyue and later gained enough wealth to purchase Chu Shiqing’s confiscated manor. 15 24
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Wei Dao Si black saber — Standard issue weapon; Xia Qi'an used it with the Wood Burning Saber Technique to sever the Tiger Demon’s claw and kill it by cutting its throat. 32
- Azure Crystal — Kept in his storage bag; emitted blue light that neutralized the Tiger Demon’s Chou Ghost’s fear-inducing divine ability. 32
- Official seal and Executive uniform — Received after winning the Hound Guard Executive assessment. 47
