The instant Solar Beam blasted toward Swampert, forcing it to use Protect. Yet Solar Beam still left a mark on it. Protect blocked all the damage, and Swampert was not injured.

As Solar Beam ended, Swampert was just about to counterattack and use Earthquake on the ground when it discovered that it had floated into the air.

"This is bad. It's Confusion. That Ninetales has powerful Confusion!" Seeing Swampert controlled by Confusion and smashed onto the ice, leaving it dizzy and disoriented, Erlang immediately shouted, "Use Knock Off on yourself..."

"Lagu!" Dark-type energy rapidly gathered in Swampert's broad palm, and it slapped itself. The Confusion control was instantly broken, and Swampert fell from the air, crashing into the ice again.

"Ninetales, Energy Ball..."

"Woo!" Ninetales opened its mouth and released a deep green orb of light from in front of it, blasting it toward Swampert.

Ninetales had learned all its Grass-type moves from the Venusaur at Lakeside Cabin, especially Energy Ball.

"Again?" Erlang was numb. Why did a Fire-type Ninetales keep using Grass-type moves? He immediately had Swampert use Dig to hide.

Rumble—

Swampert dug through the ice, leaving behind a large hole and avoiding Energy Ball. But the ice was transparent, so Ninetales could see where Swampert was.

Ninetales did not know Earthquake, but it knew Flamethrower. It quickly spewed flames across the ice, melting the Ice Field once again. Floating in the air with psychic power, it gathered another Energy Ball at Swampert beneath the pool.

"Swampert, Rock Tomb..."

"Roar!" Swampert slammed its powerful arms against the bottom of the pool and roared skyward, summoning countless falling rocks from above to smash into Ninetales in midair.
