On Earth, Ye Fan is drawn to ancient writings, strange discoveries, and accounts of longevity. His instinctive interest in Li Zhi’s Oracle Bone Script calligraphy leads him to decipher its opening lines as a Breathing Technique, beginning his path toward extraordinary strength. 8 15

Before the Nine Dragons Coffin Transport descends, Ye Fan investigates Mount Tai at Zhou Mei’s request, hoping to find traces of the missing Li Zhi. The journey instead places him and his classmates before the descending Nine Dragons Coffin Transport and the Five-Colored Altar. 31 32 35
