Sydney Wildlife Zoo—just hearing the name, one might have thought it was a huge open-air wildlife park in the suburbs.
In reality, it was an indoor zoo located in the heart of the city, its full name being Sydney Central Wildlife Zoo.
It was absurd...
Still, it claimed to be the world's largest indoor wildlife zoo. Having only been open for a little over a decade, it employed plenty of high technology to simulate wild environments, and its facilities were quite good.
Coupled with its hundreds of species and thousands of animals and insects, it made for a fairly enjoyable visit.
"Oh my, so cute!"
There were ten exhibition areas in the zoo. The group passed through them one by one, skipping over animals and insects they had no interest in, like snakes, lizards, and spiders, before quickly finding the adorable koalas.
One koala leaned against a eucalyptus tree without moving at all. Only its tiny eyes shifted from time to time as it watched these baffling two-legged creatures.
Another koala seemed to be hungry. It slowly sat up, moved to a denser patch of leaves in the eucalyptus tree, plucked a small cluster of leaves, cradled them in its arms, and kept munching away.
The third koala sprawled across a thick branch, its four limbs dangling as it slept soundly.
"So fun, so cute!" Shen Ying said with a grin. "If these little fellows were in Dajing, they would probably have been eaten clean long ago. Only on Blue Star could there still be such cute little animals."
Lu Zheng could not help scratching his head. Shen Ying was actually right. Australia was surrounded by the sea, with no large predatory beasts like leopards that could climb trees, allowing koalas to survive in peace.
