A kindred spirit!
The contents of the file folder happened to match exactly what Song He had just said!
No wonder Teacher understood it. She had looked at the reference answer in advance.
"One piece of good news and one piece of bad news." Xiang Xiaotong raised an eyebrow. "Which do you want to hear first?"
"The good news." Song He sat up straight.
"The person who submitted this progress report is one of the second-rate mathematicians I invited, Professor Deng from Peking University. He specializes in the Navier-Stokes Equations. You can tell what level he's at just by looking at his research direction," Xiang Xiaotong said.
"You just saw it too. His progress is about the same as yours, though he spent a little less time on it. Recently, he's had a pile of teaching duties and academic conferences, so he worked on it in the little time he had before bed each night."
Song He was slightly moved and felt a solemn respect!
The Navier-Stokes Equations, commonly known as the N-S Equations, were one of the Millennium Prize Problems. They described momentum conservation in viscous incompressible fluids and formed the foundation of Fluid Mechanics for viscous fluids.
The difficulty of Fluid Mechanics was well known, especially when turbulence was involved. It was basically capable of eating mathematicians alive without leaving a single bone. Heisenberg had once complained that if he met God, he would ask two questions: Why was there relativity, and why was there turbulence? If God knew only one answer, it would definitely be the former.
With such a terrifying research direction, ordinary mathematicians simply didn't dare touch it. In the blink of an eye, an entire lifetime could pass, leaving them gray-haired and empty-handed. Only truly brilliant mathematicians dared challenge problems that pushed the limits
