Background

Ayari is Ayano's younger sister and a longtime neighbor of Shin. Before Shin's return from the battlefield, he had given Ayari a key to his home so she could occasionally clean for him; she also frequently visited to spend time with his white dog, Spike. Shin's original body often followed her as a child and admired her from afar. 1 3

Like Ayano, Ayari's future had been determined by the Hyuga Clan. She was engaged from childhood to Hizashi, Hiashi's younger brother, and was expected to marry him before Ayano and Hiashi so that their child could protect the future Main Branch. Hyuga evacuation and broken engagement

Ayari informs Shin of the clan meeting preceding the Hyuga Clan's planned evacuation of Konoha. Soon afterward, she learns that the clan has accelerated preparations for her wedding to Hizashi. 23 31

Shin later approaches her as Clan Head, declares his feelings, and cancels her engagement. The forcefulness of his approach frightens and overwhelms Ayari, who struggles to reconcile the mature, powerful Shin with the younger neighbor she once knew. 47 64

Marriage and motherhood

Ayari becomes pregnant with Shin's child and, after initial shock and anger, chooses to keep the baby. She hopes for a son named Neji and immediately begins preparing for the child, while emphasizing that she wants him to grow up happily rather than merely inherit power or status. 107
