"Bring the defendant to the stand." Horatio tapped the gavel in front of him, wearing a white wig.

Quirrell's alchemical puppet, carrying a lantern, brought the defendant to the dock.

Horatio took out a legal document and read aloud, "Defendant: Tom Riddle, male, born December 31, 1926, at Wool's Orphanage in London. Is this correct?"

A weak voice came from the lantern, "It is correct."

"Very well, the trial for the murder of the Potters by Tom Riddle is now open. Presiding Judge Horatio Quibble, Vice Judge Hathor, jury members Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape, and plaintiff Harry Potter. Please raise your hand if you are present."

Three hands and a cat paw were raised from below.

After confirming everyone was present, Horatio continued, "Tom Riddle, also known as Voldemort, murdered James Potter and Lily Potter in Godric's Hollow on October 31, 1981."

Upon hearing the name Lily, Snape seemed to recall something and slammed his hand on the jury table.

Horatio glared at him, "Jury members, please maintain composure. This is a solemn court. If you cannot control your emotions, I will ask you to leave."

After warning Snape, Horatio continued reading, "The defendant was arrested on October 24, 1991, by the heroic and handsome prosecutor Horatio Quibble and imprisoned within a lantern."

Harry below suddenly raised his hand, "Presiding Judge, you captured Voldemort a long time ago, so who was the person I fought in front of the Mirror of Erised?"

"Ahem, let's not focus on such details. It is time to try Voldemort. After this court session, please ask Dumbledore; he will explain it to you."

Harry glared at Horatio, he had a pretty good idea of what was going on.

Horatio nervously turned his head away, but then remembered that the semester wasn't over yet and Harry was still his house elf, so he glared back.

After giving Harry a warning look, Horatio addressed the lantern, "Does the defendant admit to the charges above?"

The lantern swayed, "I admit."

"What is the Vice Judge's opinion?"

"Meow!!" Hathor raised her cat paw, Guilty!

"What is the jury's opinion?"

"Guilty!" Dumbledore and Snape raised their hands simultaneously.

"Very well, let's proceed with the sentencing for the murder of the Potters by Tom Riddle. The defendant, Tom Riddle, is found guilty of intentional homicide and sentenced to life imprisonment by fire, to be confined in Horatio's Lantern, and deprived of political rights for life."

Dumbledore suddenly raised his hand to interrupt him, "Presiding Judge, may I request permission to interrogate Voldemort's soul regarding his Horcruxes? How many does he have, and where are they hidden?"

Horatio rolled his eyes at Dumbledore, "Do you expect half of a remnant soul to know that? I used a large amount of soul tonic to make it barely capable of responding. I know what you're thinking. Once I find more soul fragments, I can fuse them together and use the mutual induction between similar souls to locate nearby souls."

Dumbledore shook his head, "No, what I want to ask is, if this soul has no consciousness, why hold this trial? What is the point?"

Horatio cursed loudly upon hearing this, "It's all because that idiotic author insisted on posting at an unlucky hour and didn't notice they posted in the wrong volume. I was already preparing to carry rice at the Ministry of Magic, and now they've pulled me back to the first year to work overtime again."
