Background / History
Harry meets Horatio Quibble upon arriving at Hogwarts, where Hermione introduces him as the Boy Who Lived. He is immediately wary of Horatio's dangerous behavior and the item Horatio gives Hermione before the Sorting Ceremony. 8
Dumbledore later makes a contract with Horatio: Horatio may train Harry, design the Sorcerer's Stone defenses, and act as Harry's final opponent, provided he does not use Dark Arts on or kill him. Horatio responds by placing Harry under his own “house-elf” contract, assigning him greenhouse labor and using a giant jeep to teach him Gryffindor courage. 22
During the Sorcerer's Stone incident, Harry recognizes that the Horatio before the Mirror of Erised is possessed by a remnant soul. Forced to fight Aatrox, he activates a stone Horatio had previously given him, becomes the Twilight Star Child, and defeats the demon before collapsing. 28
Harry becomes close with Ron, Hermione, and Neville. He also joins Gryffindor's Quidditch team as Seeker, where Horatio's gifts repeatedly create unwanted spectacle around him. 20
Although disturbed by Horatio's methods, Harry later accepts that Horatio acted against the Ministry and three pure-blood families after they targeted his business. He asks Horatio to consult his friends before taking such drastic action in the future. 82
After Horatio resurrects Lily and James, Harry gains a rebuilt family but must navigate Snape's wish to become his stepfather and the altered relationship between James and Sirius. Harry ultimately regards Horatio as his best friend, crediting him with resurrecting his biological mother and godmother. 96 97 127
