Background / History

A hundred thousand years before the main story, the Human Race and the Demon Race jointly defeated a powerful Demon Race that sought to conquer Tianwu Continent. The defeated side was forced into dangerous forbidden lands, while the Human Race became the continent's dominant power. Some Demon Race and demonic-beast leaders later claimed that the Human Race failed to honor an agreement to share rule of the continent after the war. 1248 1249 1342

Human cultivators and demonic beasts developed an uneasy territorial understanding: humans entering demonic-beast territory were responsible for their own safety, as were demonic beasts entering human territory. This did not prevent frequent conflict, including human expeditions for spiritual herbs and beast materials, or beast attacks on human settlements and travelers. 656 798 1317

The Human Race is politically fragmented. Major factions often prioritize their own interests, and internal conflicts have cost the race many experts. During external crises, however, normally hostile groups have repeatedly coordinated their defenses. A large human expedition into the Heavenly Demon Wasteland demonstrated the dangers of underestimating demonic-beast territory. More than a thousand Martial Saint Realm cultivators entered the wasteland, but only around thirty survived the ensuing encirclement and breakout. 1060 1062 1063

Human cultivators regularly enter demonic-beast territories to seek resources, while demonic beasts may raid human settlements, merchant vessels, and border regions. Powerful demonic beasts usually avoid openly attacking major human cities because doing so risks retaliation from human experts. 656 1249

The Human Race later repelled the Demon Race army attacking the City of Sin, with Martial Saint Realm experts helping rout the invading force. 733 734

During the sea beast tide at Myriad Origin Island, human defenders faced a coordinated assault by sea beasts from several ocean regions. Jiang Chen's intervention against Infant Soul Realm sea beasts relieved pressure on the Human Race defenders. 1526 1527 1528

Demon Race Resurgence

The Demon Race spent a hundred thousand years recovering in forbidden lands, concentrating resources on elite cultivators and awakening powerful experts from long slumber. Much of the Human Race initially underestimated the threat, believing the defeated race could not challenge the continent again. 1240 1317 1365

When the Demon Race mobilized openly, it used coercion, rewards, poison, and threats to recruit human informants. Its armies attacked cities across multiple regions, causing widespread casualties and panic among unprepared human factions. 1364

The Dragon Gate became a central human defensive force under Jiang Chen's leadership. It trained armies, formed battle formations, forged weapons, and drove demons from territory it controlled. 1364

North Hao Battlefield and Final Campaign

Human and allied armies faced the Demon Race on the North Hao Battlefield, where the Demon Race initially held a major advantage due to its accumulated elite powerhouses. 1450

Jiang Chen led Dragon Gate experts in an attack on the Demon Race's main forces, killing Deity Transformation Realm enemies and shattering the enemy army's morale. Human and allied armies then pursued the fleeing forces, including human traitors serving the Demon Race. 1452

Following the Demon Race's collapse, the Human Race and its allies reclaimed occupied regions. Dragon Gate forces spent two years hunting surviving demons in forbidden areas to prevent another resurgence. 1458
