It was a dark creature, or more precisely, a lesser abyssal creature—the weakest of the many abyssal creatures—called a Dark Eater. They had little combat power, but the biting force of their jaws was terrifying. Whenever an abyssal creature died, the aura it released attracted Dark Eaters, which would gnaw the corpse clean.
