While the Nether-Scaled Tribesmen summoned Abyssal Lightning, the Dark Ones called down pitch-black light pillars hundreds of meters thick, blasting the spines of the World-Destroying Wings.

The Twisted Treants stretched out branch after branch, continuously firing Annihilation Rays at the sky. On top of that, although treefolk should have been weak to fire, they possessed astonishing flame resistance. The spreading elemental dragonflame could do nothing to them. Only direct dragonflame breath from the World-Destroying Wings, sustained for more than half a minute, could burn these high-attack, absurdly durable monsters to charcoal.

Even so, as the World-Destroying Wings grew more numerous, the Abyssal Legion's defensive line began to retreat. Its original encirclement of the Wind Sea base gradually became a huge square-shaped siege. After holding out for five hours, however, the enemy forces in the rear and on both flanks began to run out of steam. They were forced to abandon the encirclement and shift to a frontal semicircular assault, barely managing to threaten the flanks.
