Background / History

Madara was believed to have died at the Valley of the End, but Konoha later concluded that he had used Izanagi to fake his death and obtain Hashirama Senju's flesh and blood. His original Rinnegan were eventually implanted into Nagato, leaving Madara to rely on replacement Sharingan and bodily modifications. 301 303

Operating from the shadows, Madara manipulated Kirigakure through genjutsu. He controlled the Third Mizukage and influenced Yagura, using White Zetsu infiltration and a hidden Land of Water research base to maintain his influence. 273 292 336

He treated surviving Uchiha as experimental material rather than kin.
