Fang Chen stood still as the Glazed Paper Crane fluttered around him. He carefully replayed what had just happened in his mind.
Looking at the eerie valley before him, he realized that what he had seen earlier was most likely an illusion. He had been so excited by the sight of a valley full of spirit medicines that he had rushed in without a shred of caution, only to end up in this strange place.
Dong! Dong! Dong!
A series of resonant bell tolls came from behind Fang Chen.
He spun around. Behind him lay a much broader valley, not the black-scaled red pine forest he had just crossed. A magnificent ancient city came into view, and the bell was tolling from within it.
To Fang Chen, the sight was deeply unsettling.
His gaze sharpened. He might have stumbled into an ancient formation. On the way to the Trial Path, Elder Yun and Li Yanshan had told him that besides powerful Demonic Beasts and wondrous spirit medicines, the Trial Path held all manner of ruins. Some were shrouded in ancient formations, and anyone who strayed inside might be trapped forever.
"Forget it. I'll go take a look first!"
Gripping the Floating Immortal Sword, Fang Chen headed toward the ancient city. Along the way, he found many skeletons, some of the Human Race and others of Demonic Beasts. Judging by how weathered the bones were, they had all been dead for a long time.
The time it took an incense stick to burn later, Fang Chen reached the foot of the city. A powerful force had punched straight through its heavy metal gates. Above them were carved three ancient characters: "Glazed City." Crisscrossing marks covered the hundred-foot walls, which exuded an air of immense age. Piles of bones and broken weapons
