Ego seemed to remember only then that he did not need to withstand the bombardment at all. His massive body toppled straight toward them, triggering another violent earthquake.

Just then, Dane received word from his men that someone had found the target.

Dane immediately hurried over and eventually found the team member who had sent the signal inside a cavern.

"Sir, based on the signal's origin, that thing should be in here."

The soldier pointed at a tiny hole no bigger than a palm. That was by normal human standards, not the standards of these Astartes giants, who averaged over seven feet tall.

"Unless we blow the cave open, we can't get inside at all."

But that raised another problem. No matter how slow Ego was, if they started blowing up his lair, the old bastard could not possibly fail to notice.

Dane glanced at the size of the hole and thought, No wonder only Baby Groot could get in in the movie. Ego did protect his important brain, but not by much.

"You stay out here and stand guard."

This was no problem for him at all. Dane immediately activated the Pym Particles, shrank himself down, and slipped directly into the cave.

After winding through the passageways for a long while, he finally found the target at the end of the cave: an enormous organic brain, structurally no different from a human brain, wrapped in a transparent membrane.
