Background / History

Early life

Su Lingxiu studied medicine from the age of four and was treating patients by six, developing exceptional knowledge of medicinal ingredients, diagnosis, and treatment. Her mother, a Grandmaster martial artist, declined in health after giving birth to her and died when Su Lingxiu was ten. Su Lingxiu never knew her father and took her mother's surname; afterward, she lived with her maternal grandfather, the Medicine King. 101 157

A Grandmaster later tried to abduct her but was killed by her grandfather. After he exhausted his favors acquiring Spiritual Medicine and settling old debts, Su Lingxiu fled the Inner Domain with Zhou Ying and took refuge in the Border Wasteland. A dark force continued seeking to capture her, apparently using high-grade Spiritual Medicine to lure her out. 157

Tianmu Cult and Li Xuan's discipleship

While in the Border Wasteland, Su Lingxiu accepted the Tianmu Cult's title of Heavenly Mother in exchange for medicinal resources, shelter, and access to its intelligence network. She treated the poor while the cult used her reputation to gather popular support; she had no interest in its rebellion. 106
