Background / History

Shirou participated in the Third Holy Grail War alongside another homunculus. When Darnic Yggdmillennia collaborated with the German army and the Einzbern Master was killed, Shirou returned too late to save the Master and swore to personally kill Darnic. 164

Sixty years later, he confronted Darnic after the latter became Dracula. Having become a holy man, Shirou's presence suppressed the vampire; he then used Black Keys to burn and cleanse Darnic's body and soul. 164 165

During the later Holy Grail War, Shirou served as the Red Master and pursued a wish centered on humanity's salvation through the Greater Grail. He accepted that conflict with Ruler was unavoidable, while maintaining confidence in the Servants under his command. 140 148 154 230
