First, Kakashi entered the Ninja Academy at three years old, graduated at five, became a Chunin at six, and a Jonin at twelve.

Therefore, I lean more towards the age of twelve, becoming a Jonin at the same age as Kakashi.

This was in Konoha Year 51, and Shisui wasn't famous yet; even the Anbu didn't recognize him.

Furthermore, in episode 674, when Shisui carried Itachi back, he personally said that he regarded Itachi as a younger brother and hoped Itachi would also see him as an older brother. Thus, it's more likely that Itachi met Shisui when he was five years old, and they spent about three years together.

Regarding Itachi's reaction, I deleted the version where he failed to awaken his Sharingan and the version where he awakened the two-tomoe Sharingan.
