"Speed, strength, reflexes, endurance—you don't meet the standard in any of them, Guy."
Ronglin shook his head as he pointed out Guy's shortcomings. His entire body was full of openings.
Chapter 7: Kakashi's Challenge!
Guy stood frozen in place, unable to believe it. He had trained so hard, yet he had been defeated by Ronglin in a single move. The blow to him was considerable. After Ronglin pointed out his flaws, the passion filling his heart instantly vanished, and he sat on the ground without any reaction.
It was harsh, but Ronglin had no choice but to point it out, because it would benefit Guy. Actual combat could improve one's fighting experience, but with Guy's current strength, it would be better for him to train quietly.
"If you think my words hurt your pride, then I apologize."
Spreading his palms, Ronglin looked at the dazed Guy, his tone turning stern:
"But you're still too weak right now. Sorry, but that's the truth. If you're not convinced, you're welcome to challenge me anytime."
"1."
"2."
After saying that, Ronglin continued the training that had been interrupted, leaving the badly shaken Guy to slowly reflect on their earlier fight and Ronglin's words.
"I will, Uchiha Ronglin! I'll definitely defeat you! Starting today, I'll work hard with defeating you as my goal!!!"
Only after a long while did Guy slowly come back to his senses. Red-faced, he shouted and ran off, leaving Ronglin, who was doing frog jumps, momentarily stunned.
Wasn't your goal Kakashi? How did it shift to me?
Ronglin found it somewhat amusing, but there was no need to care. Challenging him would only become more difficult with time. Guy would eventually realize that what he had declared today was destined to be impossible.
"Have you not watched enough yet, Kakashi?"
After Guy left the training ground, Ronglin did not stop training. However, in the midst of his jumps, he casually asked the question as though speaking to thin air.
As time passed and his strength gradually grew, Ronglin's control over the Sharingan and Byakugan steadily improved, and his senses grew sharper as well. He easily discovered Kakashi hiding nearby. Ronglin had noticed him from the moment Guy began challenging him.
"You're very strong."
He had been caught spying from the shadows, making Kakashi a little embarrassed. He stepped out from behind a large tree some distance away, a faint flush appearing on the half of his face that was visible.
After graduating from the academy, Kakashi had begun taking missions under the title of genius. Before long, he discovered that things were far from as simple as he had imagined. Since he had no fixed team, he could only join other squads midway through their missions.
Yet when the academy genius joined a team halfway through, he became a burden instead. No one seemed to welcome him. They merely refrained from saying it outright for certain reasons, but the mockery and sarcasm behind his back were unavoidable. Anyone who joined midway would encounter this kind of thing. Veterans mocking newcomers was an everyday occurrence.
During this mission, he had some unpleasantness with his teammates. After turning in the mission, Kakashi came to the training ground, only to unexpectedly see Guy invite Ronglin to spar.
But everything that followed left Kakashi speechless. What sparring? It had been nothing but a one-sided beating!!
"Thanks for the compliment." Ronglin smiled faintly, clearly not taking it to heart.
Kakashi raised an eyebrow, naturally noticing that Ronglin did not care much about it.
If anyone else received praise from Kakashi, they might have been delighted. But Ronglin would not. Kakashi was indeed a genius, but was Ronglin any worse?
Obviously not. There were some things Ronglin did not fight for simply because he found them meaningless, but that did not mean he did not care.
"Then stop that tedious training of yours. How about we spar?"
Kakashi, always sparing with words, raised an eyebrow. A Kunai flashed into his hand as he issued Ronglin a challenge.
