Standing behind Ronglin, Capone stared at the young man's back in shock. Ever since he had joined him by chance after a moment of impulse, he had never done anything particularly outstanding. For one, he had not been with the group for long; for another, he had never had the chance to prove himself.
Yet he had never expected Ronglin to trust him so much, appointing him to such an important position. Capone was both shocked and moved by the gesture.
He trusted me just like that? Wasn't he afraid I might betray him? Capone cried inwardly, stirred and puzzled by Ronglin's casual yet bold appointment. Still, he was the one benefiting from it, so Capone was not about to act coy.
"I'm entrusting this difficult task to you. Do you think you can handle it?" Ronglin asked leisurely, his back still turned to Capone.
The corner of Capone's cigar-clenched mouth tilted slightly, and a strange, confident smile appeared on his face. "If I can't even handle something this minor, I'd have no face left to stay in the Star Alliance! So rest assured, Alliance Leader. I'll gather every one of those wandering ghosts in the New World under my command and keep them from drifting around outside!"
"Pay attention to their character." Ronglin offered a brief reminder. "Go familiarize yourself with the Star Alliance's rules afterward. From now on, you must strictly manage your subordinates according to those rules."
