Rubbing the spot Tsunade had punched, Ronglin's expression darkened. It looked like Tsunade had no intention of holding back. With her Kage-level strength, this was simply a one-sided beating.
Though he had never tested it, Ronglin believed he could still put up a fight even against a Chunin. The flexible combined use of his two Dojutsu allowed his strength to rise rapidly by an entire tier, but against Tsunade, all he felt was deep helplessness.
"Gah~~ That hurts! Sh-Sharingan?!"
Sitting up from the ground, Harusame Yu rubbed the spot where she had been hit, baring her teeth in pain. In certain respects, girls were naturally at a disadvantage compared to boys.
Then Harusame Yu noticed Ronglin's red eyes and cried out, "Oh my god, it's actually the Sharingan. Seven years old..."
"Whew~~~" Ronglin rose to his feet and looked at Tsunade. Taking a deep breath, he asked, "Lord Tsunade, are you planning to fail all three of us and send us back to the Academy for further study? If so, please say so plainly. I'll give up immediately."
No one liked getting beaten up. The feeling of having no power to resist was awful.
This kid's mind worked fast!
Tsunade smiled faintly. "Did I ever say I was going to fail your assessment and send you back to school to continue studying?"
"Then..." Ronglin was utterly confused. If that was not the case, why was she tormenting them like this?
"Well~~" Raising a hand to pinch her chin in thought, Tsunade answered with a completely serious expression:
"It's been too long since I last exercised. I felt like moving around a little."
"..."
If he could, Ronglin really wanted to tell Tsunade to go screw herself!
But he did not dare. If he really said that, Tsunade would definitely transform into an enraged mother tyrannosaur!!
"I'm very curious." Tsunade looked at Ronglin with a smile. "Why would you ask that? Do you really think I'd send all of you back to school to continue studying?"
Ordinary people would not dare ask such a question. In fact, quite a few newcomers were so nervous upon seeing her that they barely dared to breathe. Shimura Ou and Harusame Yu were the best proof of that.
That made Tsunade somewhat curious about Ronglin. This kid did not resemble a seven-year-old at all.
"Because, as far as I know, I've never seen an apprentice ninja assessment this difficult—one that required a Kage-level expert to take it seriously."
Ronglin had seen some materials in the Academy library. Certain non-classified information was not hidden away; on the contrary, it was made public for everyone to read. Unfortunately, before graduation, very few people were willing to read such extracurricular books.
"Ordinary teachers test their students' adaptability, current strength, and ability to cooperate as a team. But isn't that boring?"
Waving a hand, Tsunade spoke indifferently. It seemed she was the only one who would dare say something like that.
"That's why I deliberately changed a few things in today's assessment. As for current strength, you three... one word—weak!
"Your adaptability is even worse. You kid still have some hope, at least. As for teamwork, honestly, that isn't something a few little kids who have known each other for less than half an hour can accomplish."
Shaking her head regretfully, Tsunade swung the little bells in her hand, her face filled with amusement.
"Then congratulations. You have officially joined Tsunade Class. I hope you are mentally prepared, because my teaching methods are a little different from those of other teachers. Go back and rest now. Collect your forehead protectors, and gather here tomorrow morning."
Watching Tsunade leave the training ground with a yawn, Shimura Ou and Harusame Yu looked utterly bewildered. What did that mean? Had they passed?
"She really hit hard."
