After that, the Wizarding World gained a peculiar custom known as "stone burial."

Some wizards who foresaw that their lifespans were nearing their ends and that they had no hope of extending them would go there ahead of time and have their souls built into statues.

Immortality was the tireless pursuit of the powerful. Even before his transmigration, Roy had heard of technology that could freeze people and preserve their bodies.

Those wealthy magnates and powerful figures, like these wizards, hoped that once technology advanced in the future, someone would step forward and awaken them.

The "Stonecarvers" under the Stonemason's Guild were responsible for managing this project. They had built a cemetery specifically to provide maintenance services.

To date, there were still no means of resurrecting or reawakening souls. This magnificent vision remained only an ideal.

However, since the beginning of the modern era, some Soul Secret Arts had emerged that involved signing contracts with the Stonecarver's Nation and making it one's destination after death.

As an Advanced Wizard of the Stonemason's Guild, Roy enjoyed this benefit as well. If he ever encountered a fatal crisis, he could transfer his Main Soul there and cling to life as a Remnant Soul.

"My teacher seems to have used some special means when he advanced to the Advanced rank. As a result, his soul's lifespan failed to increase accordingly.
