You Su was already blind by the time he was found by his Master. His childhood included cultivation of the Joyous Union Technique, which later contributes to his excess Yang Qi problem. The First Elder concludes that You Su encountered the Three Great Evil Gods before his birth and before losing his sight, though You Su himself cannot explain those memories or his condition. 126 189

Unable to rely on ordinary vision, You Su devoted himself to sword practice. He regards his growing connection with the sword not as talent or luck, but as the result of countless swings made through his own persistence. 49 By age eighteen, he had entered the Spirit Platform Realm. 27

In Chuyun City, You Su became a decisive factor in multiple Malevolent Spirit incidents. He killed True Man Ling despite being at the Spirit Platform Lower Stage, later defeated City Lord Liu after the latter became an Evil Demon, and survived encounters with the Ming Kun and Dream-Eating Ghost. 91 189
