Background / History

Ji Lingruo and her elder sister, Ji Xueruo, were born after their mother, Ji Muyan of the Snake Clan, eloped with a human cultivator. Their father murdered Ji Muyan for her Demon Core shortly after the sisters’ birth, leaving them to be raised by Granny Liu. As mixed-blood children, both sisters suffered from incomplete inheritances: Ji Xueruo possessed exceptional talent but no Demon Core, while Ji Lingruo had a Demon Core but poor talent and disordered meridians. 95

Snake Clan elders removed Ji Lingruo’s Demon Core and grafted it onto Ji Xueruo, believing that Ji Xueruo was better suited to lead the clan. Ji Lingruo did not resent her sister for the loss, but became determined to avenge their mother herself. At fourteen, she fled to the Central Yuan Continent to pursue human cultivation methods, hoping to build a Spirit Platform without a Demon Core. 95

Although she often presents herself as confident and demanding, she is deeply sensitive to abandonment, weakness, and the possibility of losing control over her demonic nature.
