Angel could tell that although Ivan claimed he had come to thank him for saving the Sky Ghost Ship, he clearly also intended to forge closer ties.
Angel recalled Sanders' assessment of Ivan. He was a mild-mannered wizard with excellent social connections. After a night of conversation, Angel could see that Ivan's personality was indeed as Sanders had said: a typical academy theorist. Even among White Wizards, his conduct counted as exceptionally kind.
Angel had only recently advanced and did not yet possess many connections in the Wizarding World. Someone mild-tempered like Wizard Ivan was actually a fairly good choice.
