Onassis watched as Su Yatutai was carried away by the medical team. When their figures gradually vanished into the distance, he murmured to himself, "I showed you the road ahead. Can you find yourself?"
Amid the clamor, Onassis headed through the contestants' passage toward the backstage area. Just as he was about to leave, he turned back and looked in Angel's direction.
Angel happened to be looking at him as well.
As their eyes met, Onassis seemed to think of something. His lips moved slightly. In the end, he bowed to Angel, then turned and left.
Gloria saw this and asked curiously, "He seemed to be talking to you."
Angel nodded.
"What did he say?"
Angel pondered for a moment before saying, "Beneath the distant stars, listen to the sound of Cloudvine Flowers blooming."
Gloria mulled over the meaning of those words for a long while, but still could not make sense of them. Frowning, she asked, "What does that mean? Don't tell me it's some philosophical principle again?"
Angel said, "That line came from something Tegra wrote in The Sound That Cannot Be Heard."
"Tegra? Was he also a mortal philosopher?"
Angel shook his head. "Tegra was a constable. After leaving his post, he wrote The Sound That Cannot Be Heard as a novel, recording the various cases he had solved in the past."
The more Gloria listened to Angel's explanation, the more confused she became. So it was a detective novel. Then why had Onassis quoted a line from it? And what did that line mean?
