The spotted puppy's short, chubby limbs clung to Angel's body. Panting out milk-scented breath, it excitedly stretched out its tongue and gave Angel's face a thorough licking.

"Why are you here too?" Angel asked with a chuckle as he played with Spotty Dog.
Spotty Dog did not answer. It seemed unable to understand Angel's words, merely wagging its tail like a little fan to express its delight at reuniting with Angel.
Naturally, Angel did not believe it could not understand human speech. When he had first seen it, it had pretended to be an innocent, ignorant little dog. Only after getting to know it better had Angel become certain that this fellow could understand people perfectly well. Anything beneficial to it, it understood at once; anything that was not, it played dumb despite knowing full well.
