Aside from the cloaked figure seen from behind, this image contained another clue.
In some of the blank phantom areas, one could vaguely make out many figures around the altar. They were not the living sacrifices bound in the small caves, but people in cloaks like the back-facing figure.
This showed that the ritual in the underground cavern was not the work of a single person. A group was behind it.
It was simply impossible to determine their identities for now.
After examining the second image, Dodolo once again touched the parchment with his spiritual power and arranged the third image.
Dodolo said, "After I saw the symbols on the stone slab, several fragmented images flashed before my eyes. Once they were filled in, two relatively complete images emerged. This is the first one."
When the image surfaced on the parchment, Angel and Nis understood why Dodolo had called the images "relatively complete." Compared to the previous two, this newly revealed image was indeed much more complete.
Only about a quarter of it was blank; everything else had been filled with color.
The scene in the image was still inside the underground cavern, but unlike before, its center was focused on the rectangular stone platforms surrounding the altar.
Angel had not paid much attention to those rectangular stone platforms in reality, because they held only isolated, fragmented skeletal limbs—arm bones, leg bones, sternums, and some strangely shaped bones from nonhuman creatures.
Compared to the three hundred and sixty complete skeletons in the cavern, they were hardly conspicuous. The only noteworthy thing was that, when these limb bones had still belonged to living beings, they seemed to have been permeated with energy. Perhaps they had once been parts of certain extraordinary lifeforms.
Unlike the bones in reality, which had already turned
