Angel walked through the cavern, where gusts of icy wind howled.
The increasingly dense death aura seemed to have become shadowy monsters, ceaselessly shrieking, rolling, and surging. Wisps of black smoke were like the monsters' claws, repeatedly trying to invade Angel's surroundings and test the final boundary.
Yet under the effects of the Purification Field, all death aura was blocked off, and no black mist could approach Angel.
Angel passed the rectangular stone platform and slowly made his way to the very center of the cavern.
As he climbed the stone steps one by one, he seemed to hear shrill cries beside his ears.
By the time he reached the altar at the top, those cries had drawn closer and closer, as though they were right behind him.
Angel did not turn around.
But if anyone had been there, they would have clearly seen a gloomy woman standing behind Angel, most of her face obscured by long black hair. Her head was tilted, her hair falling to one side and exposing a pair of savage scarlet eyes.
She stared fixedly at Angel. Her bony, pale hand, tipped with jet-black nails, stretched out as well, probing toward the center of Angel's back.
Yet no matter what the woman did, Angel still did not turn around. He merely leaned slightly forward and looked at the stone slab atop the altar.
"Huh." Angel suddenly voiced a note of surprise.
The woman behind him froze at once. As though startled, she instantly retreated into the black mist of death aura, her figure merging with it. Only her scarlet eyes remained, watching Angel.
Angel reached out and stroked the stone slab on the altar. The symbolic patterns upon it were clearly visible.
