The moment Nis and Kant stepped onto the fourth underground level, they could clearly sense that the atmosphere had changed.
The first three levels had been exceedingly cold and silent. Walking through them, they had not sensed any deathly aura, but neither had they sensed the presence of living people. It was like walking through a forgotten wilderness. The fourth level was different. Though they had yet to see a single person with their own eyes, the brighter lights, the mingled scents in the air, and the occasional rustling sounds from afar all indicated that there were people here—and many of them.
Led by Reynolds, they had not walked far before they spotted traces of the living.
At the corner at the end of the long, narrow corridor, several shifting silhouettes appeared.
Nis narrowed his eyes and looked at Kant. "Should we go over directly, or conceal ourselves as we approach?"
Kant said, "Before Angel finds the main control node, concealing ourselves is naturally best. But how do you intend to conceal us?"
A wicked grin appeared on Nis's face as he pointed at the silent bone-armored knight beside them. The meaning could not have been clearer.
A method of concealment? Naturally, physical concealment. Knock out the two people ahead, and they could pass through without a sound.
Once he understood Nis's plan, Kant felt the corner of his eye twitch slightly. Sure enough, given Nis's usual behavior, he would definitely choose this method—openly "hardcore," secretly "reckless."
Kant silently sighed and raised a finger. A patch of darkness like night gathered at its tip.
