Did the existence of the One-Eyed Wraith carry some special meaning?
Hearing Angel say that, Dox's mind filled with doubts. Did the One-Eyed Wraith have some unknown secret? Was he simply ignorant and easily astonished?
Dox turned to look at the others, confirming that Wai and Kael were equally bewildered. But Black Earl had only a nose, so no emotion could be read from him.
Just as Dox hesitated over whether to brave the tall hat of "ignorance" and question Angel, Angel took the initiative to continue.
"It is said that One-Eyed Wraith colonies gather in the central region of underground labyrinths. As long as you see a One-Eyed Wraith, it means you are not far from the labyrinth's center. And the Stairway of the Hanging Prison we are looking for lies in the central area."
Dox said, "So that was the special meaning... Is this your exclusive intelligence?"
Angel paused slightly. "I cannot tell you the source of this information."
Dox shrugged and asked no more. They had long since seen what Angel was like. He made it clear beforehand what he would tell them and what he would not. Though it could be infuriating at times, it was also a peculiar sort of sincerity.
By then, Black Earl had already sorted through his earlier surprise and said calmly, "I do not care about your source. But is this information reliable?"
Angel pondered for a moment and shook his head. "I do not know how reliable it is either. However, since we have already found traces of One-Eyed Wraiths, and the Stairway of the Hanging Prison truly is not far away, I think this information can be trusted."
