Angel thought for a moment, then decided to voice the doubt in his heart.
Perhaps because she had stumbled repeatedly before, Laplace was no longer as taciturn as usual. She merely said, "Humans always pride themselves on being clever, but when prejudice takes root deep within them, they are often unaware of it."
Angel asked, "What do you mean?"
Angel did not understand why Laplace had suddenly brought up "human prejudice." Could it be that demonkin could originally awaken twice, but human prejudice had decided that one awakening was the limit?
Rather than answer, Laplace asked, "Why not tell me what you know about the Panic Realm and demonkin?"
Though puzzled, Angel still recounted what he knew.
After hearing Angel out, Laplace offered no comment. Instead, she continued, "That is only your own opinion. Can your opinion represent everyone's? Why not ask your companions as well? Perhaps they have something to add."
Angel did not understand her intent, but his gaze still instinctively turned toward the others.
Dox had recovered somewhat by then. Seeing Angel look at him, he thought for a moment. "You have already said pretty much everything I know. But I remember hearing some tavern patrons mention that there were three theories about the origins of the demons in the Panic Realm..."
"But I did not hear what those three theories were." As Dox spoke, he could not help grumbling, "Those chatting patrons looked like they were from a caravan, but they spoke all furtively, like they were up to no good."
Wai said irritably, "Before you talk about others, do not forget what you were doing. You were eavesdropping!"
Dox said, "I was eavesdropping openly!"
"Eavesdropping is eavesdropping. What difference is there between doing it openly and sneaking around?"
Just as Dox was about to retort,
