Luigi stroked his chin, seeming to weigh Angel's words. After a while, he looked at Laplace. "Then I'll choose from these two pieces?"
Laplace said, "Fine. Listen to him."
Laplace trusted Angel's judgment. Besides, these poems had all come from the same person, and from what Angel had said, their artistic achievements were nearly on the same level. In that case, choosing "Sea Spirit Hymn," "The Lord of the Long Night Emerges from the Abyss," or "The Light King's Slaying of the Coral Dragon" made little difference.
Luigi said, "Even if I choose an incomplete piece?"
Laplace hesitated for a moment. "How much is missing?"
Luigi thought about it. "The ending is missing. About one-tenth, I think."
If only the ending was missing, that was no great matter. Laplace mused to herself. In her view, Luigi might not even make it to the ending. Perhaps he would only perform the opening before the phantom dolphin carried him out of the fire rings.
After all, the Fire Ring Track only required a performance; it did not require him to perform the whole piece. Besides, a sung poem often took a long time, and the third track had a time limit. Even if he started singing the instant he entered the sea, he probably would not reach the end.
With that in mind, Laplace nodded. "That works too."
Luigi's eyes lit up, and he blurted out, "I wrote lyrics for the missing ending myself. If I sing all the way to the end, can I use my own lyrics?"
Laplace considered it, then nodded anyway. "Yes."
If Luigi truly chose an incomplete piece and really sang to the end, then there had to be an ending. Though she did not quite believe in Luigi's originality, having lyrics was still better than getting
