Baby-Tooth Papa said, "I did hear some of what Parrot said. But he didn't say anything important. He was basically asking about his companion."
"Asking?" Angel said. "What questions did Parrot ask?"
Baby-Tooth Papa thought carefully. "Things like where they would leave from this time, when they would leave, that sort of thing... Anyway, it was just those few questions, asked over and over. His companion would occasionally answer a few words, but most of the time, he stayed silent."
At this point, Baby-Tooth Papa looked around, then lowered his voice gossipingly. "I reckon... his companion stopped responding because he got sick of being asked."
In Baby-Tooth Papa's view, anyone would grow impatient if they were asked the same question over and over.
The fact that his companion had not lost his temper already counted as doing Parrot a favor.
After hearing this, however, Angel felt that something was off. He exchanged a look with Laplace and said softly, "As far as I know, Parrot isn't much of a talker."
Laplace said nothing. Instead, Baby-Tooth Papa rubbed his chin, wearing the look of a sage deep in thought, and chimed in, "I've met Parrot before. He really didn't like talking much, so he was indeed a little unusual just now."
