Laplace had been about to watch the second round of the showdown.
But suddenly, the holographic illusion froze, as though time and space had come to a standstill. Everyone's expressions were locked at their most vivid moment.
The edges of the illusion began to turn jagged and blur. The entire constructed livestream scene was collapsing at a visible rate.
The livestream illusion was controlled by Angel. Now that something had gone wrong with it, something must have happened on Angel's end.
With that thought in mind.
Laplace rose to her feet, jumped down from the second-floor balcony, and landed beside Angel.
Angel was staring blankly up at the sky.
"What... are you looking at?" Laplace frowned and instinctively followed Angel's gaze upward.
Beneath the pitch-black, cloudless Night Veil, a single star flickered incessantly. Its light was faint, yet against the boundless darkness, it seemed particularly conspicuous.
"A star," Angel said without taking his eyes off it, as though answering Laplace, yet also as though merely muttering to himself.
"That star... is there something wrong with it?" Confusion flashed through Laplace's eyes.
Though there was only one star in the night sky, Laplace did not find that especially unusual.
Angel did not answer immediately. He stared blankly for quite a while, only abruptly coming back to his senses when Laplace lightly nudged his shoulder.
The haze in his eyes gradually cleared.
After a bout of turbulent emotions, Angel finally calmed down and looked at Laplace apologetically. "Sorry, I got lost in thought just now. The livestream got cut off too. Wait for me, I'll restore it right away..."
Laplace shook her head. "There's no need to rush over Luigi's side. Tell me about yourself first. What happened to you just now? You looked like you'd gone mad."
After a pause, Laplace
