Ch. 41Dragon-Phoenix Dance

Ye Weiming learned Dragon-Phoenix Dance, then failed to remove the Green Bamboo Sword’s poison at the Armaments Bureau. He investigated ways to raise his Aptitude and Comprehension, but found that even basic books in Bianjing cost far more than he could afford.

  • Ye Weiming learned Dragon-Phoenix Dance from You Jin and left the Divine Constable Bureau after You Jin refused to exchange the quest reward.
  • At the Armaments Bureau, Ye Weiming met Wind Thunder Swordsman, an Emei disciple and Tie Zhi’s student, who explained Emei’s male disciples and its inherited weapon-forging methods.
  • Ye Weiming asked Wind Thunder Swordsman to remove the Green Bamboo Sword’s poison, but learned that its blade had been forged from poisonous iron and could not be cleansed.
  • Ye Weiming asked other players how to raise Aptitude and Comprehension, and learned that reading could improve Comprehension while they knew no reliable way to raise Aptitude.
  • Ye Weiming visited a private school in Bianjing and found that even its cheapest books cost far more than the less than 20 gold he carried.

Ch. 42Was He a Master Chef?

Ye Weiming grinded wanted quests to raise his Breathing Technique and earn enough money to study the Hundred Family Surnames. While stopping to cook wolf meat on the way to Luoyang, he met a hungry boy whose cooking advice raised Ye Weiming’s Cooking skill to level 4.

  • Ye Weiming killed the wanted bandit Liu Xueqiao and collected the quest reward and loot.
  • After completing a long string of wanted quests, Ye Weiming reached level 18 and nearly had enough money for the Hundred Family Surnames tuition.
  • Ye Weiming used a Lightness Technique Insight to improve Eight-Step Toad Leap and set out for Luoyang with his inventory full of loot.
  • When hunger threatened to slow his journey, Ye Weiming killed a Night Wolf and tried to roast its meat over a campfire.
  • Ye Weiming gave the badly cooked meat to a ragged little boy, who explained how to roast it properly and earned Ye Weiming 1,000 Cooking experience.

Ch. 43A Zhong, the Young Boy

Ye Weiming befriended A Zhong by sharing a camp and enjoying the boy’s skillfully roasted wolf meat. After A Zhong left to search for his mother and Ah Huang, Ye Weiming accepted hidden quests to help find them.

  • Ye Weiming persuaded A Zhong to cook the wolf meat they had gathered, and A Zhong prepared food that boosted Ye Weiming’s arm strength.
  • A Zhong gave Ye Weiming the roasted meat and explained that he knew about players’ inventories and how wild beasts respawned.
  • Ye Weiming stayed by the fire overnight to protect A Zhong, then gave him a tinderbox in the morning.
  • A Zhong gave Ye Weiming a Beggar’s Chicken recipe and explained that reading skill books could grant extra cooking proficiency.
  • A Zhong set off to look for his mother and Ah Huang, and Ye Weiming accepted hidden quests to help find them.

Ch. 44How Could You Eat a Dog!?

Ye Weiming recognized the dog at Dog Yama’s stall as Ah Huang, the yellow dog A Zhong had asked him to find, and bought it to keep it from being slaughtered. Ah Huang led him to an abandoned house beside White Horse Temple, where it retrieved a tattered book, leaving Ye Weiming to discover what it contained.

  • Ye Weiming sold his spare equipment in Luoyang City and gathered enough gold to learn the Hundred Family Surnames, though he still lacked aptitude and Breathing Technique levels.
  • At Dog Yama’s stall, Ye Weiming spotted the uniquely named Ah Huang and realized it might be the dog from A Zhong’s hidden quest.
  • Ye Weiming haggled Dog Yama down to five gold by pretending Ah Huang was his longtime companion, then freed the dog.
  • Ah Huang led Ye Weiming to an abandoned house beside White Horse Temple and brought him a tattered book from beneath a dusty bed.

Ch. 45Cultivation Skills

Ye Weiming carefully studied the Zhoubi Suanjing and comprehended the Deduction skill, which improved his martial arts and Tai Shan's Secret. After realizing he might have wasted other manuals by consuming them, he spotted Soy Milk Xiaobai and watched him with ill intent.

  • Ye Weiming left the abandoned house with Ah Huang and bought meat buns for them to eat.
  • Ye Weiming read the Zhoubi Suanjing word by word and comprehended Deduction, gaining one point of Comprehension.
  • Ye Weiming discovered that Deduction increased the attack, defense, and accuracy of his move-type martial arts and reduced Tai Shan's Secret's calculation difficulty.
  • Ye Weiming realized he might have missed out on useful skills by consuming manuals instead of studying them.
  • Ye Weiming saw Soy Milk Xiaobai hurrying south through the crowd and watched him from the shadows.

Ch. 46Hidden Weapon Expert

Ye Weiming followed Soy Milk Xiaobai out of Luoyang City, but lost sight of him in the woods and was ambushed by a skilled hidden-weapon expert. After defending against the barrage and cutting down the trees his opponent used for cover, Ye Weiming thrust at the falling attacker while choosing to take the hidden weapons head-on.

  • Ye Weiming followed Soy Milk Xiaobai from Luoyang City toward Peony Village, intending to inspect his soy milk business or catch him recruiting players for the Divine Constable Bureau.
  • Soy Milk Xiaobai disappeared along a woodland path, and Ye Weiming sensed danger and dodged a volley of hidden weapons.
  • Ye Weiming used Dragon-Phoenix Dance to block the attacks and cut down the trees where the hidden-weapon expert hid, while the ambusher marveled at his defense.
  • Ye Weiming anticipated the ambusher's next leap, cut down his landing tree, and made him fall from the branches.
  • As the falling ambusher threw ten hidden weapons at Ye Weiming, Ye Weiming kept his thrust aimed at the man's heart rather than withdrawing to defend.

Ch. 47Soy Milk Xiaobai's Strength

Ye Weiming encountered Soy Milk Xiaobai and Tang Sancai while tracking Xiaobai, then accepted a quest to protect him from an ambush. As the group headed toward Dukang Village, Ye Weiming spotted traps ahead.

  • A shout interrupted Ye Weiming's fight with a Tang Clan disciple, and Soy Milk Xiaobai stepped between them, knocking away Ye Weiming's sword and the disciple's hidden weapons.
  • Ye Weiming learned that the Tang Clan disciple was Tang Sancai, who was protecting Soy Milk Xiaobai through a quest.
  • Soy Milk Xiaobai invited Ye Weiming to join the quest, and Ye Weiming accepted the five-star Protect Xiao Bai quest.
  • Tang Sancai explained that Xiaobai's former enemies had arranged for Steward Zhao to lure him out of Luoyang City and ambush him.
  • As the group traveled toward Dukang Village with Ah Huang, Ye Weiming spotted ropes and steel wires that revealed a trap ahead.

Ch. 48Mighty Divine Eagle

Ye Weiming and Tang Sancai uncovered and triggered a deadly hidden-weapon trap before being confronted by three chiefs of Lotus Stockade. Bai Zhanji revealed his identity as the Mighty Divine Eagle and began fighting Lin Zhipei, leaving the two players to face the other bandits.

  • Ye Weiming spotted a concealed steel-wire trap, and Tang Sancai broke the wire with a Flying Locust Stone, setting off a barrage of bolts and sharpened bamboo stakes.
  • Ye Weiming invited Tang Sancai into a party and chose contribution-based loot distribution.
  • Lin Zhipei, Ji Laiye, and Ge Angshou surrounded the group, and Lin accused Soy Milk Xiaobai of having once destroyed his gang and hunted him down.
  • Soy Milk Xiaobai revealed the bandits as three of Lotus Stockade’s chiefs and was identified as Bai Zhanji, the former Six Doors constable known as the Mighty Divine Eagle.
  • Bai Zhanji charged Lin Zhipei and told Ye Weiming and Tang Sancai to defeat Ji Laiye and Ge Angshou, then come help him.

Ch. 49A Huang Earns His Keep!

  • Tang Sancai chose Ji Laiye as his opponent and lured him into the forest, leaving Ye Weiming to face Ge Angshou.
  • Ye Weiming ate roasted wolf meat to gain an arm-strength boost and used the food to approach Ge Angshou.
  • Ge Angshou revealed his attack was a feint and threw dice at Ye Weiming, who broke them and pursued him.
  • Ge Angshou repeatedly used Flying Star Throw to keep Ye Weiming at a distance and disrupt his advance.
  • A Huang sprang from ambush and bit Ge Angshou's left calf.

Ch. 50Senluo Pendant

Ye Weiming killed Ge Angshou with Ah Huang’s help, then collected the BOSS’s drops and equipped the Senluo Pendant. When Ji Laiye threatened the injured Ah Huang, Ye Weiming ordered him to come back, and Ji Laiye inexplicably obeyed.

  • Ah Huang held Ge Angshou in place, allowing Ye Weiming to land a critical strike and cripple the BOSS’s right leg.
  • Ye Weiming killed Ge Angshou, then gave Ah Huang a Blood Replenishing Pill and hid it behind a tree.
  • Ye Weiming looted Ge Angshou’s items, including the Senluo Pendant, and equipped the pendant.
  • Ji Laiye abandoned Tang Sancai and charged toward Ah Huang, but Ye Weiming shouted for him to come back.
  • Ji Laiye turned away from Ah Huang and charged at Ye Weiming, astonishing Tang Sancai.

Ch. 51A Bag of Rice of Suffering

Ye Weiming and Tang Sancai defeated Ji Laiye after Ye Weiming used taunts and defensive swordsmanship to keep the BOSS occupied. Ye Weiming received a strange, indestructible bag of rice among his rewards.

  • Ye Weiming taunted Ji Laiye and engaged him with Moon Maiden Swordplay while Tang Sancai attacked from range.
  • Ye Weiming switched to Dragon-Phoenix Dance and repeatedly taunted Ji Laiye to keep him from reaching Tang Sancai.

  • Ye Weiming received Frog Skin Bracers, a Bag of Rice of Suffering, and money from the drops.

Ch. 52Come at Me!

Ye Weiming drew Lin Zhipei away from the wounded Bai Zhanji and struggled to hold him off until Bai rejoined the fight. He gave Tang Sancai two poisoned hidden weapons to weaken Lin Zhipei, then challenged Lin again to draw his attention.

  • Ye Weiming found the Frog Skin Bracers were useless to him and complained that the spoiled rice item could not be discarded or destroyed.
  • Bai Zhanji suffered a severe wound beneath his ribs, so Ye Weiming shouted at Lin Zhipei and drew him away from the killing blow.
  • Ye Weiming and Tang Sancai fought Lin Zhipei, whose strength and fast Gale Swordplay overwhelmed them until Bai Zhanji returned to the battle.
  • Ye Weiming asked Bai Zhanji to hold Lin Zhipei off for ten breaths, then traded Tang Sancai a Mosquito Stinger Needle and a Seven Star Nail, explaining their poisons could weaken Lin.
  • Tang Sancai accepted the poisoned weapons, and Ye Weiming called Lin Zhipei toward him again.

Ch. 53Mutual Destruction

Ye Weiming, Bai Zhanji, and Tang Sancai weakened and defeated Lin Zhipei with poisoned weapons, but Lin Zhipei killed Tang Sancai in his final attack. After receiving the mission and first-kill rewards, Ye Weiming opened his attribute panel and was shocked by what he saw.

  • Tang Sancai poisoned Lin Zhipei with a Mosquito Stinger Needle and then a Seven Star Nail, sharply reducing the BOSS’s combat strength.
  • Ye Weiming switched to Moon Maiden Swordplay and added poison from the Green Bamboo Sword as the trio pressed their advantage.
  • Lin Zhipei unleashed a final burst of power, but Tang Sancai’s Flying Knife landed the killing blow while Lin Zhipei’s sword killed Tang Sancai.
  • The system awarded Ye Weiming experience, cultivation, a Moon Maiden Swordplay level, and first-kill rewards for defeating Lin Zhipei and completing the mission.
  • Ye Weiming opened his attribute panel and drew a sharp breath at what he saw.

Ch. 54Pet Silver Bracelet

Ye Weiming and Tang Sancai divided Lin Zhipei’s drops, and Ye Weiming used the Pet Silver Bracelet to save Ah Huang. Tang Sancai invited him to join a chain quest involving the Longevity Lock, but an urgent message forced Ye Weiming to decline.

  • Ye Weiming looted Lin Zhipei’s corpse, obtaining two Quanzhen manuals, an Iron Fetus Bow, and 16 gold, but not Lin Zhipei’s sword or Gale Swordplay.
  • Ye Weiming accepted Tang Sancai’s friend request and learned that Tang had received no share of the boss drops.
  • At their meeting in Peach Blossom Village, Ye Weiming gave Tang Sancai the Golden Goose Skill and split the gold, while Tang lent him the Pet Silver Bracelet to save Ah Huang.
  • Ye Weiming equipped the bracelet and made Ah Huang his pet, then showed Tang the Longevity Lock dropped by Ge Angshou.
  • Tang Sancai invited Ye Weiming to join his chain quest, but Ye Weiming received an urgent message and declined.

Ch. 55Divine Constable Bureau's "Human" Skill!

Ye Weiming returned to the Divine Constable Bureau for a major sect mission after upgrading his skills and sorting through his spoils. He met Sanyue and asked You Jin to assess two martial arts manuals while they waited for Venerable Huang to issue the mission.

  • Ye Weiming declined Tang Sancai's invitation, gave him weakened hidden weapons, and traded the Longevity Lock for Tang Sancai's Pet Silver Bracelet.
  • Ye Weiming reviewed his rewards, saved the insight manuals for later, and used cultivation points to raise Breathing Technique to Level 9 and Dragon-Phoenix Dance to Level 5.
  • Ye Weiming returned to the Divine Constable Bureau and learned that Sanyue had chosen the Human skill, which revealed when people were lying.
  • Sanyue told Ye Weiming that Venerable Huang would issue the sect mission once all three Bureau players had arrived.
  • Ye Weiming found You Jin and asked him to assess two martial arts manuals for suitability.

Ch. 56Venerable Huang

Ye Weiming had You Jin appraise his martial arts manuals, then joined Sanyue and Fei Yu to meet Venerable Huang. Venerable Huang assigned the three players to investigate a series of murders at the Fuwei Escort Agency in Fuzhou City, offering an aptitude-boosting internal cultivation technique as their reward.

  • You Jin advised Ye Weiming that Flying Star Throw did not suit him and praised Quanzhen Swordsmanship for gradually strengthening its user's foundation.

Ch. 57Bounty Order

  • Venerable Huang assigned the six-star Fuwei Escort Agency quest and allowed each player to recruit one helper with a Bounty Order.
  • Venerable Huang told Ye Weiming, Sanyue, and Fei Yu to prepare overnight and reach Fuzhou before the Hour of the Dragon.

  • Yin Bukui declined because he had an important sect quest after his master was cheated on.

Ch. 58Quanzhen Swordsmanship

Ye Weiming learned Quanzhen Swordsmanship, used insights from the Lotus Tournament bosses to strengthen his techniques, and cultivated his Breathing Technique before traveling to Fuzhou. He arrived at Yuelai Inn, where Youyou was already waiting for him.

  • Yin Bukui told Ye Weiming that Ji Xiaofu had been abducted by Yang Xiao and sent him a file about the Fuwei Escort Agency; Ye Weiming offered to help and recruited Youyou for the mission ahead.
  • Ye Weiming studied the Quanzhen Swordsmanship manual and gained the new sword art, then applied Lin Zhipei's Swordsmanship Insights to raise it to Level 3.
  • Ye Weiming used Ge Angshou's and Ji Laiye's insight manuals to improve Eight-Step Toad Leap and Moon Maiden Swordplay through lateral comprehension.
  • Ye Weiming spent eight hours cultivating in the Divine Constable Bureau's training room, then traveled by carriage from Bianliang to Fuzhou.
  • Ye Weiming reached Yuelai Inn and found Youyou waiting for him.

Ch. 59The World Is So Small

  • Sanyue arrived with a white-clad girl, drawing the attention of the three men.

Ch. 60Know Yourself and Your Enemy

Ye Weiming and his companions gathered to discuss the six-star Fuwei Escort Agency mission, sharing intelligence about the players hired to kill visitors and the powerful Yu Canghai behind the murders. With the group knowing little about one another’s abilities, Ye Weiming proposed a friendly spar before they planned their tactics.

  • Sanyue introduced her companion Transparent Sky Bridge, and Fei Yu tried to challenge Ye Weiming’s standing by arguing that strength determined seniority.
  • Fei Yu reported that a masked level 25 Man in Black had hired players to kill anyone leaving the Fuwei Escort Agency for five gold per kill.
  • Ye Weiming revealed that Yu Canghai, head of the Qingcheng Sect, was behind the murders and wanted the agency’s Bixie Swordplay.
  • Ye Weiming suggested that the companions spar to assess each other’s strength before they devised a plan.
