Background
Origins and Dong Xuan
Taiyi was once Dong Xuan's earnest disciple, studying Heaven Realm Dao methods and Divine Abilities. Their reunion over a hundred million years later is defined by Dong Xuan's hatred: he believes Taiyi used the teachings of the Heaven Realm to help massacre its people. Taiyi counters that Dong Xuan never warned his students that bringing those methods to the Other Shore would cause a Great Extinction there. 865
Taiyi's original ambition was to cultivate the Taiyi Great Dao so that his people would no longer be oppressed, his homeland would prosper, and his race would become strong. Much later, he is forced to confront the possibility that his own actions have instead devastated the Other Shore and nearly destroyed its strongest native cultivators. 920
Hao Yi and the Taiyi Sect
Taiyi accepted Hao Yi—later identified as Emperor Haotian—as a disciple and encouraged him to travel, learn from True Kings and Dao Lords, and challenge established Dao teachings. Taiyi regarded Hao Yi's questions as a source of enlightenment and considered that period the height of his own life. 775
Hao Yi eventually rebelled against the Other Shore. Taiyi claims he upheld righteousness over personal attachment, and Hao Yi did not leave the Other Shore alive. However, Hao Yi's later insight, “Within Taiyi, my nature is self-sufficient,” became the foundation of Taiyi's greatest advance in the Taiyi Great Dao. 775 865
Taiyi leads a large sect whose disciples are notably united. When other Great Dao Lords demand Xu Ying's surrender, Taiyi and his disciples refuse to yield, treating an attack on one disciple as an attack on the sect. 804
Xu Ying's Master
Taiyi first aids Kinoe—Xu Ying under another identity—when Hong Dao Lord pursues him. He uses a spatial reincarnation technique to send Kinoe away, remaining behind to face the pursuer himself. 765
Xu Ying later becomes Taiyi's disciple in the Other Shore. Their relationship is deliberately transactional: Taiyi admits he accepted Xu Ying to seize cultivation methods during the Great Dao Tide, while Xu Ying entered the sect to learn Other Shore methods and aid the Heaven Realm. 782 832
Despite knowing Xu Ying's rebellious origins, Taiyi repeatedly protects him. When Xu Ying's actions draw the hostility of multiple Great Dao Lords, Taiyi sends him to another universe rather than expelling him from the sect. 804
Rebellion and Calamity
Taiyi seeks to revive the Other Shore by replacing its corrupt rulers and freeing the Dao Lords held within Longxing Temple's abnormal space-time. 847
After clashing with Dong Xuan, Taiyi demonstrates Hao Yi's principle of self-sufficiency: the Great Daos within his Taiyi Great Dao emerge in response to his opponent's techniques and rapidly mature to the peak of the Immortal realm. His manifested Daos rise from roughly three hundred to nearly two thousand during the battle. 865
Taiyi and Xu Ying later fight within primordial chaos, and their opposing Taiyi Great Daos accelerate the birth of a new universe. They share the resulting creation merit; Xu Ying chooses not to kill the weakened Taiyi merely to claim the merit for himself. 873 874
Taiyi eventually kills Dao Master Luo, then withstands an ambush by twenty Dao Masters at Daoji Heaven. His counterattack kills several opponents and shatters their cultivated Great Daos, producing Dao Snow across the Other Shore. 909 919
Lin Chuanting confronts Taiyi with the damage caused by those actions. Realizing that he has worsened the Other Shore's Calamity Fortune, Taiyi attempts to repair its broken Heaven and Earth Great Daos while Lin prepares to exploit the strain on his Dao Heart. 920
Appearance
Taiyi is described in his reunion with Dong Xuan as a stout, aged elder; in his youth, he had been a robust and mature man. 865
- Often carries himself with the composure of a senior master, even while concealing grave injuries. 782
- Possesses a Taiyi Cave Abyss whose manifestation evokes the return of myriad Daos to one. 865
- Uses an Imperial Chariot for travel across the Other Shore and the Sea of Chaos; Wuchen Dao Lord destroys it during an ambush. 782
Personality
Taiyi is humorous and seemingly carefree in ordinary conversation, but becomes grave and self-sacrificing when protecting allies. He refuses to abandon Kinoe to Hong Dao Lord's pursuit, choosing to remain behind and fight. 765
As a master, he is fiercely protective. He insists that Xu Ying remains his disciple unless Xu Ying personally betrays the Taiyi Sect, and he refuses to let outside Dao Lords take him by force. 804
Taiyi is also calculating. He exploits the greed of rival Dao Lords by feigning weakness, then transforms their own attacks into stronger Taiyi Divine Abilities and returns them against their creators. 783
His resolve is vulnerable to guilt. Lin Chuanting's accusations force Taiyi to recognize the destruction his campaign has caused, shaking a Dao Heart previously defined by unusual firmness. 920
Abilities & Skills
Taiyi Great Dao
Taiyi cultivates the Taiyi Great Dao, an Innate Great Dao characterized by the unification of disparate Dao powers.
- Encompasses numerous Heaven and Earth Great Daos, including aspects of space, time, and part of the Void. 865 908
- Can absorb an enemy's Yin-Yang Divine Abilities, convert them into Taiyi Divine Abilities, amplify them, and release them back at the attacker. 783
- Manifests the phenomenon of myriad Daos returning to one. 865
- His Taiyi Great Dao eventually contains three thousand Great Daos integrated into a single stream of Dao Power rather than divided into separate forces. 909
“Within Taiyi, My Nature Is Self-Sufficient”
Taiyi's defining realization comes from Hao Yi's interpretation of the Taiyi Great Dao: all Daos are born from Taiyi, rather than being external paths that must be forcibly collected. 865
- Allows dormant Great Daos within Taiyi to emerge when he encounters an opponent's techniques. 865
- Newly manifested Daos can rapidly reach the Grand Perfection of the Immortal realm. 865
- Lets Taiyi gain insight from confrontation instead of merely copying an opponent's cultivation. 865
- His mastery of this principle gives his unified Dao Power greater force than the combined output of separated Dao powers. 909
Reincarnation, Space, and Time
Taiyi can use the Great Dao of Reincarnation for extraordinary movement across space-time.
- Pulled Kinoe through the reincarnation of the Other Shore while fleeing Hong Dao Lord. 765
- Sent Kinoe away through a spatial reincarnation technique so that he could face their pursuer alone. 765
- Traversed past space-time by manipulating the Daos of space and time. 908
- Cannot easily evade cultivators whose Karma Great Dao directly counters his reincarnation methods. 765
Combat and Dao Manifestation
Taiyi combines overwhelming Dao Power with strategic use of Divine Abilities and Dao Bodies.
- Defeated Yin Yang Dao Lord by converting his own Divine Abilities into Taiyi attacks. 783
- Revealed multiple Dao Bodies to heavily injure the God Demon and Life and Death Dao Lords. 783
- Withstood twenty Dao Masters and their Innate Spiritual Treasures before killing several and shattering their Great Daos. 919
- His strength is limited when his Dao Heart is disturbed or when hostile Karma causes him to misjudge the consequences of his actions. 920
Equipment / Weapons / Items

- Imperial Chariot — Taiyi's vehicle for interstellar travel; destroyed by Wuchen Dao Lord's ultimate treasure. 782
