Background / History

The ancient Mount Sumeru collapsed and its original Mountain Spirit died. Before its end, a Buddhist power sealed the Mountain Spirit’s final breath of creation inside a mountain core for a future inheritor. The Little Diting emerged from that core by absorbing Creation Qi and became a new Mountain Spirit; consequently, the resulting mountain was no longer the original Mount Sumeru. Chen Luo refined this Mountain Spirit, while Yun Siyao gave the new mountain its name: Mount Fangcun 441.

At its formation, Mount Fangcun contained roughly three hundred li of ridges and peaks, functioning as a self-contained world. Its Mountain Spirit remained immature and slept within the mountain body while it grew 441.

Chen Luo planted the mountain in Jingze Lake, where its submerged mass suppressed Heavenly Demons. Its Buddhist aura gradually permeated the lake, suppressing restless demonic energy; the uncanny incidents previously associated with Jingze Lake ceased after it took root there 466 504 583.

The mountain became the center of Chen Luo’s Southern Wilderness alliances. It hosted the Fangcun Summit, housed the Three Stars Cave for Classic of Mountains and Seas texts, and gained a Wutong Forest after the Azure Dragon Emperor’s branch was planted on it 520 523 597.

Mount Fangcun later left the Southern Wilderness under Yuan Bubai’s protection and was assigned to the Yan Yun Plain, where it formed an alliance with Taiping City and was supported by forces from Dongcang City 683.

Appearance

Mount Fangcun is a three-hundred-li divine mountain of rolling ridges and peaks. Though not as towering as Great Xuan’s grand mountains, it possesses an independent inner realm and, after sustained cultivation and development, took on the bearing of a divine mountain 441 545.

• It can remain largely submerged beneath Jingze Lake or rise completely into the sky 504 508.
• A protective halo shields those standing on its summit from the wind while it flies 504.
• Its mountain body contains the sleeping Little Diting, its Mountain Spirit 441.
• A Wutong Forest spanning dozens of li grows upon it, filtering sun essence and moonlight 597.
