Chen Luo’s current soul was placed into his body through a plan arranged by his father. At age seven, the original Chen Luo suffered a month-long fever, lost his Omniscient Reading Talent, and became withdrawn; Chen Xuan later concludes that a Daoist forbidden technique maintained the body until the soul’s return at nineteen. 729

After awakening, he relies on inherited memories to write in Elegant Script and begins producing works such as Brief Biography of Zhong Kui. His first major Book Spirit, Zhong Kui, emerges from this literary work and can devour ghosts and probe souls. 2 14

Chen Luo cannot generate Righteous Qi or cultivate through the Confucian sect’s Mountain of Books and Sea of Learning.
