Background / History

Jiang Xiaorou arrived in the Lian Clan as a refugee. After Yi Yun’s mother adopted her, she supported both herself and Yi Yun through years of poverty following his mother’s death. Though treated as a low-ranking outsider by the clan, she remained fiercely protective of Yi Yun and refused to yield even when threatened over food rations 5.

Her childhood memories were fragmented. She remembered a large and wealthy family, books, writing, and having her talent tested, but could not recall how she came to the Great Wilderness. Her education and knowledge of cultivation distinguished her from the other villagers 12 34.

After Yi Yun became a National Scholar, he brought her from the Great Wilderness to his fief in the Central Plains. The manor was named Rouyun Mountain Villa, combining a character from each of their names. Jiang Xiaorou became its mistress and rapidly learned to manage its land, accounts, staff, and household rules 135 158.

She was later separated from Yi Yun and awakened as the Desolate King in the Divine Desolation. To secure his rescue from Shentu Nantian, she accepted the Shepherd Boy’s condition: severing ties with the Human Race and leading the Desolate Tribe 557 644.

Seven years later, she led the Desolate Tribe’s Heavenly Foxes into the Soul Tomb against the Blood Moon. She fought Reincarnators, used the Sacred Spirit’s power despite its cost to her life essence, and was eventually reunited with Yi Yun 644 649 652 670.

In Chaos Heaven, Jiang Xiaorou was revealed as Princess Rouyun, daughter of the Blood King and successor candidate to the Ruins Emperor. Her bloodline was poorly suited to Human Race and Desolate Tribe cultivation methods, but her talent flourished after reaching the Ancient Ruins of the Heavenly Demons 1041 1044. She pursued the Crown Prince position to protect her mother, secure her own future, and gain the strength to seek Yi Yun across the star domains 1045.

Appearance

Jiang Xiaorou was initially a delicate but resilient girl in coarse clothing. After awakening her bloodline, she became a striking red-clothed young woman whose presence carried the dignity of the Desolate King 5 555.

  • Refined, elegant beauty noted even during her impoverished Lian Clan childhood 5.
  • Slender figure; later described as graceful and radiant after living at Rouyun Mountain Villa 363.
  • Three vermilion dots between her brows after her transformation 555.
  • Often wears red or vermilion garments as Desolate King 644.
  • Uses a Bone Staff and, in battle, a long whip 557 652.
  • Saint Descent Divine Patterns emerge across her face when invoking Sacred Spirit power 652.

Personality

Jiang Xiaorou is compassionate, observant, and exceptionally mature. As a child, she understood that talent without strength could invite danger, and she repeatedly advised Yi Yun to remain cautious around Lian Chengyu and the Lian Clan’s politics 8 34.

Her gentleness does not prevent her from acting decisively. She was willing to fight an armed camp official with a handmade arrow to keep herself and Yi Yun alive, and later chose to confront Reincarnators personally rather than delegate the danger to Chen Fei 5 649.

As Desolate King, she became more serene and melancholic under the weight of leadership. Her central motivations remained personal rather than grandiose: protecting Yi Yun, her mother, and those who entrusted their lives to her 644 652 1045.
