Background / History

Toneri was an eyeless infant found amid the aftermath of the moon’s internal conflict. The other inhabitants of the castle were dead; a dying man identified the child only by calling his name. 269

Ōtsutsuki Isshiki examined Toneri and discovered that, despite his lack of eyes and impure Ōtsutsuki blood, he possessed an exceptionally powerful physique and was perfectly compatible with Isshiki’s Karma Seal. Isshiki implanted Karma into him and designated him as his vessel. 269

With Isshiki’s existing body nearing collapse, he chose to forcibly accelerate the Karma’s dissolution rather than wait for Toneri to mature naturally. He fed chakra into the infant to stimulate the seal, prioritizing his own reincarnation over Toneri’s well-being. 282

The process rapidly aged Toneri from infancy through adolescence. During the final stages, he remained half-conscious and unable to understand what was happening as Karma markings spread over his body. 286

Once the Karma fully dissolved, Isshiki transferred his consciousness into Toneri. Toneri’s body grew into that of a young man and transformed into Isshiki’s original form, completing the reincarnation. 286
